Healthy Foods - SuperfoodsIt’s been a while since I found the time to write about myself and how I’m doing with superfoods and healthy living. I’m a successful webmaster and internet marketer and it comes with the territory that we alway have the least time to work on our own sites. I first started this blog about superfoods and information that I feel, everybody needs and is entitled to have, one year ago and I’m walking the walk since then. I don’t know if you realized, but we are living in the most fantastic time ever! Never before, in history of mankind, we had the possibility to get the worlds best superfoods delivered to our doorsteps. Neither our parents nor any of our ancestors could go the local health store and just get the world’s best food supplements for a more or less affordable price. No generation before us had ever the chance to simply order all superfoods and food supplements online! As I said, we’re living in an incredible time! We can have it all today; and who dares to say that we can’t get 150 years old if we only eat the best superfoods? Now it’s all in our hands what we do with this unique chance. All the information about superfoods is available on the internet today and so nobody can say: “I didn’t know… nobody told me..”

Who is interested in Superfoods?

Goji Berries BranchBut you know what; I found that only a fraction of the people who could actually afford to live healthy, really do live healthy! What amazes me most after talking with hundreds of people about superfoods, healthy living and longevity, is that most of them don’t seem to care much and love their burgers and french fries! Some people though, had wide open ears and adapted my raw food diet which consists mainly of delicious,  fresh organic salads made of all kinds of vegetables, organic eggs (only organic eggs or none at all), Spirulina, fresh carrot and apple juice and sometimes fresh fish.  I am not a vegan nor a strict vegetarian, I don’t eat meat and I wouldn’t even get near a chicken anymore today! If you feel you need to eat chicken, watch the movie “Food Inc”, I promise, chicken will never the the same. Many people also tell me that they don’t want to get old, being afraid of becoming helpless and dependent. but that’s not what happens; if you live healthy you will get old and vital and you will be in charge of your life. But I’m not giving in! With many people who have changed their diet after talking with me and seeing (and often tasting) how I live, I’m still in contact today and I get amazing feedback!

What is the perfect diet?

Fresh Organic WheatgrassThere is no such thing as a perfect diet, I’m afraid. A diet is individual for each person but don’t worry, you have your body as your best friend! Your body will soon tell you what the ideal diet for you is. Follow your nose and your instincts. If something doesn’t taste good when you try it the first time, give it a couple of more chances, our body is a world champion in adjusting. Things I never liked to eat taste fantastic today! I even like Spirulina. I suggest that  you try to eat raw food, if possible organic or as much organic as you can get or afford, for one month and watch your weight carefully. Raw food also contains sugar and sometimes a lot of sugar. Sweet fruits and even superfoods like amalaki / gooseberry, bananas and pineapple, but also carrots and cucumbers contain large amounts of sugars. While  these sugars are of the ‘good kind’ of sugars, not like the white sugar from the supermarket, they will still produce fat in your body. Here is where exercising kicks in! A good diet doesn’t consist of healthy food only. Other factors for a balanced health and longevity, are exercise and meditation. If your body is fit, your digesting system will work perfect and keep everything in balance. After one month you should already be able to see significant results! Your skin will look healthier, you will feel fit the whole day long and will not get tired in the afternoon anymore. You will probably find that you have been very productive in whatever it is you’re doing. After four to eight weeks on an organic superfoods diet your weight will also have leveled, and even if you loose weight in the beginning, your body will automatically find it’s ideal weight after some time.

Finally I want to give you a list of the healthy foods and superfoods that made my meals interesting, tasty and absolutely healthy during the past year! I also want to add that my cancer has gone, I’m obviously still sticking around, and that I won’t give it a chance to come back! For me it was the yellow card in the world championship finals and we all know what a second yellow card means! Therefore I will keep up my healthy and very tasty diet, keep on doing sports like bicycling, swimming, weight lifting and running several times a week and live at least  another seventy years! It’s all about the right nutrition, antioxidants and being fit and therefore everything is possible and no one before us had the chance to try…

Acai Berries – Superfood or Part of the Health and Wellness Craze

The acai berry (pronounced ah-SAH-ee) snd its many benefits has spread throughout the country like wild fire. There's not a magazine, Internet site or even your own email that doesn't espouse the wonders of acai. Most people have heard about it through word of mouth because of their friends' and family members touting their positive experiences with these berries and their amazing abilities. However, instead of fading out like the latest fad, it has become even more popular. So what is the acai berry and what are the benefits that have claimed to change so many lives?

Acai berries are grown in the Amazon on palm trees. The berries are removed from the trees, loaded onto ships and sent to processing centers. They are made part of many types of foods, including shakes, juice and certain candy to name a few. More recently, acai is being used as powders and capsules for losing weight. But, the more popular use has been in functional health beverages or juice which is sold in local retail outlets or through product distributors.

The little purple berry has been named one of the best superfoods which means it is very healthy to consume. However, many people are not aware of the many benefits of the berry. The first and most notable is the simple fact that the acai berry in any form, provides stamina and energy. The antioxidants contained in the berries improves mental alertness, body detoxification, sexual function, and maintenance of several major body systems such as the cardiovascular and digestive systems.

Additionally, the acai berry contains anthocyanins and falvonoids which are powerful antioxidants in their own right. They play a role in cell protection in the body, protect against free radicals which are defined as harmful byproducts produced in the body and it is also believed that it helps with aging and may reduce the risk of cancer.

The most prominent is the fact that the acai berry contains 33 times the anthocyanins of red wine grapes. Anthocyanins have been found to demonstrate many potential medical effects as the treatment of fibrocystic breast disease and diabetic retinopathy. It also contains vitamins B1, B2, B3, C and E, which are vital in every diet. A complex of essential amino acids matched with valuable minerals is very important for proper muscle contraction and regeneration.

There are some people that eat acai berries to address various health conditions. But depending on which study you read or website, there are naysayers that claim the acai berries have no known health benefit. However, other studies show that the properties contained in the little berry has produced evidence that shows the nutritional and health benefits are really genuine. Of course, it remains up to the person consuming the product to know for sure.

Substituting Food Cravings for Weight Loss

Why we need to eat more Healthy Foods

Weight-Loss with SuperfoodsLoosing weight is often talked about these days. Weight loss has become one of the biggest topics in the internet. No wonder, since all the information about superfoods is so easily obtainable today. If it’s not someone asking how to successfully lose weight it’s some health company capitalizing on those who are overweight. Most people who are busy with weight loss since many years are desperately looking for the next diet that promises to shed those extra kilo’s.

I do not recommend any commercial weight loss program except it is based on natural healthy foods! I believe they are mostly “commercial” in nature and not really suited for weight loss. True weight loss programs should be initiated in conjunction with your Doctor. I do however, believe the regularly eaten food today is lacking many important nutrients and essential Antioxidants that are needed to have a healthy body. Often food supplements are required to replace these deficiencies.

Unwanted weight gain can often be attributed to over indulgence of a particular food in an attempt to replace an essential Vitamin the body is missing. When our body receives sufficient supply of nutrients, cravings will be reduced and we feel fuller and stisfied with lesser food.

Our daily food is lacking in many nutrients and of those nutrients that are still present, many are obtained through application of synthetic fertilizers and are being subject to pesticides and selective herbicides. The old saying “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” should now be going: “Two apples a day keeps the doctor away.” because we would have to eat twice as much to get the same level of nutrients.

The growing demand on food has lead to crops produced on a large scale these days, and are produced with more synthetic stimulants and pharmaceutics than it is good for us.

I you’re busy with weight control, your diets should be organic and nutrient rich with a range of all essential vitamins and minerals and antioxidants to assist suppressing cravings in between meals.

Organically grown fresh fruit and vegetables are the perfect option for a synthetic supply of vitamins and minerals in our diets. And only if a sufficient supply of these foods is not available, organic foods supplements are an option.

The goal for successive weight loss must be to maintain a sufficient supply of vitamins and minerals to prevent cravings that force and over consumption of food leading to more unwanted kilos.

Many processed foods contain large amounts of artificial colors, flavors and preservatives, which may block the supply, or uptake of vitamins and minerals into the body. Junk foods are designed with 3 things in mind. To get your money, to fill a taste craving, or to fill a hunger craving. They are not designed to provide necessary nutrients to your body.

The more real food we eat the more likely we will attain food satisfaction through sufficient nutrient consumption.

Adding a Vitamin or Superfood such as Acai berries into the daily diet will also assist with weight loss because you may need to consume less to receive your bodies necessary nutrient requirements. Acai is highly nutritious, extremely high on antioxidants, is very filing and suppresses food cravings for a long time making it an ideal superfood for weight loss

Nevertheless, you should always consult with your Doctor before you make any sudden changes in your diet or start taking food supplements over a longer period of time.
