Diabetics can also benefit from eating oats since this has less sugar. Similarly, nuts can also be used to lower cholesterol levels. Garlic and onions have been found to lower cholesterol levels as well as blood pressure.

Edible Gold – Super Food Colloidal Gold

Gold CrystalsGold, the chemical element with symbol Au. The metal that has been used for money, a store value, jewelry, sculpture and ornamentation. Simply put, Gold is the most sought-after precious metal of the past, and gold is still the most sought-after precious metal today and most probably will be for a long time to come.

Gold has been included in dentistry and in electronics where gold is used for resisting to oxidative corrosion. Gold is also a transition metal and can form univalent and trivalent cations upon salvation. It is also the basis of the gold refining technique known as “inquartation and parting” because gold is insoluble in nitric acid which can dissolve silver and other base metals. As a concept and as an element has permeated its way to culture and lifestyle. In fact, it has its own version in almost everything; from comic books to raw organic superfood.

In comics and films, Gold becomes a superhero. There is the DC comic book superhero named Booster Gold. Booster Gold was created by Dan Jurgens and first appeared in Booster Gold # 1. Booster Gold has been a member of the Justice league and part of the DC Comics’ all-star team of superheroes. Booster Gold has no superhuman abilities but has a power suit that gives him super strength and wrist blasters. He is also an excellent athlete and a strong willpower. Of course his power suit is mostly colored in gold with the other parts colored in blue.

Another superhero that dons the color gold is the superhero from India that is known as Drona. With Drona, his whole costume is bathed in gold. Drona is an Indian Superhero film that starred Abhishek Bachyan and has been described as a Harry Potter meets Prince Of Persia movie that has an original story.

But why dwell on golden superheroes and forever revel in their greatness when you can become the super version of yourself? “How,” you ask, “can that be possible?”

Eat gold. Make gold a part of your diet.

There is the raw organic superfood called Colloidal Gold. This raw organic superfood is really made up of 99.995 pure gold that has been suspended in pure distilled revitalized water and has unique properties that is recognized as super-nutrient important for its broad spectrum support for a healthy high-performance body, mind and mood.

It can also increase our creativity, imagination, mental clarity and acuity.

Now, all these benefits from this superfood is enough to warrant you superhero status. If you were to ask me, being a superhero in the 21st century means getting through a hectic day with my energy and concentration still at their optimum level. Surviving stress, overcoming disease, and having enough energy to spend time with my loved ones at the end of the day makes me the superhero I want to be.

Gold, is still the most sought-after precious metals of the past, today and in the future; and not just in medicine, electronics or comics. Blueberries – Super Food For a Reason

What makes blueberries a superfood?

Blueberries don't really look anything special. Yet they are quite delicious and versatile. In fact it is strange to believe that such a small fruit is actually a superfood. In the interests of improving my health and that of my family I've been doing some studying about superfoods, the pros, cons and benefits. I'm also interested in how we can increase our use of these superfoods in our diet without blowing the budget. Consequently, I'm not only learning all about superfoods and their uses but how to grow them myself (wherever practical).

Blueberries are a superfood because they are packed with anti-oxidants and phytonutrients. Why are these important? Antioxidants help reduce free radicals in our bodies and are widely believed to help prevent heart disease and cancer. Phytonutrients are still undergoing research but it is known that? they also help to reduce free radicals. It is also the fact that they are rich in phytonutrients that means although they do not contain significant amounts of Vitamins C or E the body receives as much antioxident protection as if? you had taken vitamin C and E. These little blue berries also contain potassium (an essential mineral for strengthening blood vessels) and vitamin C. It is this richness in vitamins and minerals that makes them a superfood and the top choice for adding to a healthy diet. By adding blueberries to your diet you can help?lower your risk of heart disease and cancer. Another amazing benefit is that? they are also anti-inflammatory. Another amazing benefit is the effect that they have on our brain. Research has shown that blueberries high quantities of phytonutrients help improve the communication between brain cells and can delay the onset of dementia and aging. When choosing your blueberries you need to look for the darker coloured berries as the darker the colour the more anti-oxidents they contain. Growing your own blueberries is relatively simple and will give you a fresh supply but the best part is you can also freeze them. Frozen and dried blueberries are just as beneficial to your health and diet as fresh. Fresh, frozen or dried there really is no reason not to have blueberries in your home ready to add to your diet every day. You do not have to eat blueberries by the handful. Instead you can add them to a range of delicious recipes. In fact adding blueberries to a smoothie has the added advantage of giving you additional fruit portions and calcium. A very simple idea for a smoothie is to add 1 cup of blueberries, to 1 cup of pro-biotic low fat natural yoghurt, half a cup of fruit juice (orange or pineapple are great) and a teaspoon of honey. Mix in a blender or smoothie maker and serve. Another delicious and simple way to add blueberries to your diet is to make blueberry muffins or fruity granola pots. Both of these dishes are great ways to get your children to eat blueberries. Superfoods and Why They Are So Popular Today

There is no question about the popularity of superfoods. For the benefit of those who have yet to get to know what superfoods are, they are the whole foods which are enriched with vitamins, minerals, and a lot of health motivating properties. For a product to be named as such, it must contain a wide spectrum of antioxidants, minerals, vitamins, phytonutrients, and a lot other factors. There are several names of products that claim they are the best superfoods and one among which is the Brazilian acai.

The Brazilian acai is deeply set back in the rainforest of the Amazon region. The acai goes with the scientific name of Euterpe Oleracea. The fruit appears to be small in size, round in shape, and then dark purplish in color. The Brazilian acai bears lesser pulp yet a bigger seed. Others often mistake it for the grape fruit only that it is smaller and then darker as compared to it. This type of medicinal plant has piqued the interest of the experts as well as it has warmed the hearts of numerous people who are emphatically concerned with their well being. Others may not be totally convinced but once you get to know the amazing effects that the berry possesses, you would likely end up craving for your own chance to give it a try.

The following are the benefits that the Brazilian acai as a superfood is able to furnish its users.

The Brazilian acai berry enhances the metabolism process in a natural manner. When the metabolism process is improved, it would mean that weight loss is on its way to please you.

The toxins need to be flushed out of the body and this could be better done with the aid of a superfood product that boasts of its efficiency. The body toxins are wastes that could promote problems related to fat loss, bloating, gas, and the maintenance of sufficient energy levels.

The immune system is that which shields the body against diseases and infections. Therefore, as the immune system is improved, you lessen the chances of your body succumbing to illnesses and your metabolism further boosted to get on with its weight loss scheme.

Apart from the enhancement of the immune system as well as the metabolism process, the Brazilian acai similarly does a great job in stabilizing the circulation of the blood within the body. When there is proper circulation, the skin would become healthier and younger looking.

More than ever, the acai could fight against the cancerous cells that thrive within the body.

There are a lot other significant advantages that can be rooted from the Brazilian acai berry and thereby the products which are crafted out of this fruit are deemed to be useful and healthy options for many people.

A lot other superfood products have been conceptualized with the use of the Brazilian acai berry. Among of which are in the forms of energy drinks, ice cream, energy bars, juices, and pills. Whatever the type of superfood product it is, the fact remains that the benefits of the acai are very much significant and popular.

Introducing Superfoods to You and Your Family

What are Superfoods?

Raw Food Healthy Food - CarrotsIt is commonly known that our bodies require food for essential nutrients and energy, but some foods are better than others, and some are even better than that. These foods at the top of the list are known as superfoods, which are rich in vitamins and have been proven to improve your health and reduce your risk for many diseases.

What are the benefits of superfoods?

Superfoods are especially good for you because they’re rich in vitamins, minerals, and extra compounds that are good for your health and easy to process. Things such as omega-3 fatty acids, fiber, vitamins and minerals, and many things that are hard to pronounce. Superfoods have been involved in scientific studies to back up the health claims made for them.

How do I get these foods into my diet?

To begin using superfoods in your diet, start slowly. Change your snack of potato chips or candy to a cup of low fat flavored yogurt, and trade out lunch for a baked chicken sandwich with light mayo, a side salad, and some string cheese. Once you feel comfortable with this change, you can incorporate more super foods.

Getting your family and friends involved will provide a support system and make things even easier. It is a very simple change to make, and the benefits you’ll reap are priceless, but it does require that you do it and keep up with it. Don’t change your habits just long enough to loose a few pounds. I promise you’ll be much happier if you stick with it.

What about getting my kids to eat healthy?

The easiest way to get a child to eat healthy is to start young. Every parent has to go through the process of finding out what their kids love, what they will tolerate, and what will end up on the wall. This happens whether you choose to feed your child healthy or unhealthy food. The problem arises when you decide to make a change for the better and your child, who is used to (and loves) their current unhealthy eating habits, resists with full force.

But changing the eating habits of your whole family doesn’t have to end in tears with every meal. Just like anyone, kids need to be introduced to healthy eating slowly. This can be a positive change that you go through together, rather than against each other. There are just a few basic rules.

Pick your Battles

If your child loves carrots but feeds broccoli to the dog when you’re not looking, don’t fuss. Don’t cause a fight that will push them further and further into rebellion. Don’t give them broccoli for dinner. Instead mix a small amount in a homemade salad dressing, or a smoothie. Someday, their tastes may change and they decide to they love broccoli. It happens all the time.

Include your child in the preparation.

Many children love to assist in the kitchen. They feel important and it creates a great bonding opportunity. So let them help by washing or tearing vegetables, help them set the table, or even ask them to help you choose the food to make (within boundaries.) If your child is to the point they hate helping, ask them very nicely to do small things for you and give them lots of praise on what a great job they did without patronizing them. It helps build their willingness to do it again.

Make it fun

One way to encourage kids both to help in the kitchen AND to eat the food, is to make the preparation fun. Make the food into fun shapes or play kids music while you prepare. You could make the preparation into a game, make sound effects and be as silly as you want. You’ll be surprised to discover that you want to be in the kitchen more and more, too.

As with all diet changes, getting your child to eat healthy will take a little bit of work, some understanding, a healthy dose of creativity, and a whole lot of patience. It will also take compromises here and there. The end result is well worth the battle, though. So keep it up and one day your child will thank you.

What Are Superfoods and Why Are They So Important?

The Health Benefits of Superfoods

Nutrient Rich Raw Food is Healthy FoodIt has become hard these days to get all the necessary  nutrients our body needs in the normal food we eat every day. With the steadily increasing selection of fast food burger and fish shops, and restaurants serving huge portions of not very healthy food, it's hard to get your head on straight and eat the right things. Even though it is very important for your health to get the right nutrition in your daily diet, it's hard to know what exactly those right foods are. Let me tell you something about Superfoods and explain the difference between 'normal food' and Superfoods.

Your body and your mind need a certain amount and combination of nutrients to function at the highest possible level. You usally get these nutrients by eating food, but here is the catch; not all food provides the same nutrition. Some foods are better than others. Some foods are even bad for your health, and eating them can increase your risks for diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetis and more. Some foods will give you good energy and the nutrients you need. And then there are the best foods which are extraordinary rich in nutrients; these foods are called superfoods. These superfoods contain various substances such as minerals, antioxidants and enzymes. We need to have theses substances because they have shown to improve our overall health and reduce the risk of getting sick. We don't need to get all of the diseases that plague people all over the civilized world today, we just need to eat the right foods.

We define disease as an impairment of health by a condition of the body or mind that causes dysfunction. We can define health as a condition of the body that is free from disease. If you eat food that is unhealthy for you and doesn't contain the nutrients you need, it can lead to malnutrition. If you have malnutrition, you may not even notice it but it could lead to disease or great risk for disease.

Superfoods are especially good for you because they are so rich in the minerals and nutrients that your body needs. Since they also contain substances that have been proven to improve your health, they have a huge impact to your general health. There are so many benefits to eating Superfoods that there really is no excuse not to work them into your daily diet. Superfoods contain compounds such as omega-3 fatty acids, monounsaturated fats, phytochemicals (natural chemicals found in plants) and dietary fiber. Kevin Gianni Interviews Happy Oasis about her Favorite Superfoods

Happy Oasis, founder the Raw Spirit Festival Inc, shares her favorite superfoods

Kevin: Sara says you really inspired her on the Rawkathon. She wants to know, you talked about foraging food but what do you eat? Do you fix it yourself? Is it simple? Is it gourmet? What’s daily fare?

Happy: Well, first of all, thank you Sara. You inspire me. I love this mirroring of inspiration because it always encourages me to go on. I have the option to just go back and be a hermit. I’m so content like that. So thank you, Sara.

What do I eat? Well, I try to be versatile. However I’m more or less pretty much raw vegan. I’ll say 99 percent raw vegan. Once in a while I will eat something else but it’s so rare that I can’t even remember the last time I had something else. This morning I had juice. I’m home so I had some carrot, apple, celery. Then I went into the garden. We grow a garden here four seasons. I’m up in the mountains but I put a piece of plastic over our garden. I raise it up a little bit in the winter. We also have a sun room. That sun room is part living area and part indoor raised bed gardens. So we have lounge chairs, a French dining table and we also have these vegetables growing. I love to grow greens. In Arizona by the time the greens get here they can be a week old. So I ate some parsley and cilantro. Almost everything I eat in the green category is from the garden here. Our garden is just lush right now. I love arugula. It’s one of my favorites. I love the mustard family. Chard sometimes, and lots of spinach in the winter. I’m not so into lettuce because I like the dark, leafy greens for their nutritional value even more. Then after the juice – oh, a little bit of ginger and lemon in it. Sometimes I’ll throw a couple tablespoons of spirulina in there. I’m pretty simple.

I’m really into fresh fruits. I usually only eat locally, as much as possible, and fresh, organic. I go to the farmer’s markets. I went to the farmer’s market in California three days ago and ate [indecipherable] and some blood oranges that had just come off of somebody’s tree.

Then there are these potluck celebrations which have more complex foods. However this digestive tract is other than able to digest gourmet foods with a lot of ease because of so many years of eating wild, edible plants and mono foods. If you know what I mean. Just like eating one cucumber. One of my favorite meals or snacks is just to eat a cucumber. Sometimes for my teeth I’ll just eat celery or a big carrot. I love beets as well.

Then in the tropics, I just came from a couple of months in Hawaii, I was having coconut every day, fresh coconut right off the tree. It would plunk down in the middle of the night. You can hear the avocados falling down on the ground, as well, at night. I go easy on bananas. I really try to avoid those. But coconut every day. Papaya. In the tropics it’s really easy to eat too much fruit so I try to start my day with salad. I used to be diabetic. And then try to end my day with a salad. Then I have fruit in between as my snacks. That’s it. Pretty simple.

I almost never eat dried fruit. I don’t do any raisins, Gobi berries, dates, or any of that because of the diabetes and also I find it very dehydrating and more difficult to digest. I also go easy on the nuts. I try to eat a lot more olives and avocados for my main source of fat. And flax seed oil and olive oil.

I’m pre-superfoods. I’ve been raw vegan for 14 years. The word “superfood” I’d never heard of. They kind of came in as this big fad. This has been going on for a few years. In the long run the superfoods are great and it’s really about fresh, organic produce and sprouting your own mung beans and other sprouts and your own garden and foraging. That’s really the sustainable, long-term diet of the millennia.

Kevin: Right. It makes a lot of sense. Gail does ask, “What is your favorite superfood?” So I imagine that even though you’re pre-superfood I’m sure that you’ve eaten a few of them. What would be your favorite one?

Happy: I would say my favorite superfood is loving kindness. It just feeds me. When people are really loving and kind and funny. When people are really hilarious, it just giggles me forth and it gives me so much energy. I love affection. I love to hug people and be hugged. And just living in nature is the finest superfood. But on that level that I know what you’re talking about, I would say spirulina. I do use, because I travel a lot, Jameth Sheridan’s Healthforce Nutritionals. He has this VitaMineral Green which seems to be a really nice blend. Sometimes I just put a couple tablespoons in water. I’m not gourmet, please understand. That will just do it for me. I eat to live. I don’t live to eat. People are sometimes shocked that I’m not a gourmet chef. I leave that to other people. I love the gourmet food on very occasional occasions.

Superfoods, I eat dulse. Dulse is wonderful. Sometimes nori sheets. But I don’t really take anything out of a bottle personally. However, if those people are in transition or they feel that they’re even busier than I am and they prefer eating out of a bottle then more power to them. However for me and for my budget, because I have a non-profit salary, so for my budget and for my vitality I just love fresh greens and fresh fruits.
