News from the Superfoods Front

Skin Cancer – One Year Later

Healthy Foods - SuperfoodsIt’s been a while since I found the time to write about myself and how I’m doing with superfoods and healthy living. I’m a successful webmaster and internet marketer and it comes with the territory that we alway have the least time to work on our own sites. I first started this blog about superfoods and information that I feel, everybody needs and is entitled to have, one year ago and I’m walking the walk since then. I don’t know if you realized, but we are living in the most fantastic time ever! Never before, in history of mankind, we had the possibility to get the worlds best superfoods delivered to our doorsteps. Neither our parents nor any of our ancestors could go the local health store and just get the world’s best food supplements for a more or less affordable price. No generation before us had ever the chance to simply order all superfoods and food supplements online! As I said, we’re living in an incredible time! We can have it all today; and who dares to say that we can’t get 150 years old if we only eat the best superfoods? Now it’s all in our hands what we do with this unique chance. All the information about superfoods is available on the internet today and so nobody can say: “I didn’t know… nobody told me..”

Who is interested in Superfoods?

Goji Berries BranchBut you know what; I found that only a fraction of the people who could actually afford to live healthy, really do live healthy! What amazes me most after talking with hundreds of people about superfoods, healthy living and longevity, is that most of them don’t seem to care much and love their burgers and french fries! Some people though, had wide open ears and adapted my raw food diet which consists mainly of delicious,  fresh organic salads made of all kinds of vegetables, organic eggs (only organic eggs or none at all), Spirulina, fresh carrot and apple juice and sometimes fresh fish.  I am not a vegan nor a strict vegetarian, I don’t eat meat and I wouldn’t even get near a chicken anymore today! If you feel you need to eat chicken, watch the movie “Food Inc”, I promise, chicken will never the the same. Many people also tell me that they don’t want to get old, being afraid of becoming helpless and dependent. but that’s not what happens; if you live healthy you will get old and vital and you will be in charge of your life. But I’m not giving in! With many people who have changed their diet after talking with me and seeing (and often tasting) how I live, I’m still in contact today and I get amazing feedback!

What is the perfect diet?

Fresh Organic WheatgrassThere is no such thing as a perfect diet, I’m afraid. A diet is individual for each person but don’t worry, you have your body as your best friend! Your body will soon tell you what the ideal diet for you is. Follow your nose and your instincts. If something doesn’t taste good when you try it the first time, give it a couple of more chances, our body is a world champion in adjusting. Things I never liked to eat taste fantastic today! I even like Spirulina. I suggest that  you try to eat raw food, if possible organic or as much organic as you can get or afford, for one month and watch your weight carefully. Raw food also contains sugar and sometimes a lot of sugar. Sweet fruits and even superfoods like amalaki / gooseberry, bananas and pineapple, but also carrots and cucumbers contain large amounts of sugars. While  these sugars are of the ‘good kind’ of sugars, not like the white sugar from the supermarket, they will still produce fat in your body. Here is where exercising kicks in! A good diet doesn’t consist of healthy food only. Other factors for a balanced health and longevity, are exercise and meditation. If your body is fit, your digesting system will work perfect and keep everything in balance. After one month you should already be able to see significant results! Your skin will look healthier, you will feel fit the whole day long and will not get tired in the afternoon anymore. You will probably find that you have been very productive in whatever it is you’re doing. After four to eight weeks on an organic superfoods diet your weight will also have leveled, and even if you loose weight in the beginning, your body will automatically find it’s ideal weight after some time.

My List of Superfoods

Finally I want to give you a list of the healthy foods and superfoods that made my meals interesting, tasty and absolutely healthy during the past year! I also want to add that my cancer has gone, I’m obviously still sticking around, and that I won’t give it a chance to come back! For me it was the yellow card in the world championship finals and we all know what a second yellow card means! Therefore I will keep up my healthy and very tasty diet, keep on doing sports like bicycling, swimming, weight lifting and running several times a week and live at least  another seventy years! It’s all about the right nutrition, antioxidants and being fit and therefore everything is possible and no one before us had the chance to try…

Superfoods For Health

What are Superfoods? Superfoods are whole foods. Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed or are only minimally processed in a way that none or little of the nutrition has been altered or destroyed. Canned foods for example, are processed foods. Cooked foods are also processed foods and therefore less healthy than raw foods.

Superfoods are not necessarily some exotic fruits. Apples have been proven to be potent weapons against cancer, heart disease, asthma, and type 2 diabetes but other fruits and vegetables have some remarkable health benefits as well. Or strawberries and raspberries for instance; they contain a compound called ellagic acid, one of the best cancer fighters nature ever created. When you’re eating these fruits the ellagic acid enters the bloodstream and will help to destroy cancer cells on contact.

Other “Superfoods” which can improve your health, boost your immune system to a healthy level and take care of anti aging are:

  • Beans such as pinto beans, black beans and lentils are another series of foods to lower cholesterol, combat heart disease, stabilize blood sugar, reduce obesity, relieve constipation and lessen the risk of cancer.
  • Blueberries are a small but mighty nutritional force. They combine more powerful antioxidants than any other fruit or vegetables. Although they have many health benefits, the one thing they are known for most is the ability to lower your risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Broccoli is a great cancer fighter and very beneficial in many other ways as well.
  • Avocados are believed to help lower cholesterol and they are rich in magnesium (an essential nutrient for healthy bones)
  • Dark chocolate may come as a real surprise to most, as being one of the healthiest foods on the planet. It’s a source of phytonutrients which act as an antioxidant that helps protect our DNA and inhibits the growth of unwanted blood vessels. Make sure you buy the right kind of dark chocolate, one that isn’t as processed and has a high cacao content. Raw cacao beans or nibs are even better since the chocolate needs to be heated up.
  • Garlic and onions are great cancer fighting foods
  • Honey is beneficial in maintaining optimal blood-sugar levels. Honey should be consumed as is, fresh from the spoon. adding honey to your tea will destroy most of it’s benefits.
  • Kiwi is an antioxidant all-star. It offers an unusual array of health-promoting substances. One very important thing it does is it promotes heart health by helping to lower triglycerides levels and reducing platelet hyperactivity.

Other superfoods that display great health promoting properties are – oranges, pomegranates, pumpkins, wild salmon, soy, spinach, tea, tomatoes, turkey (skinless breast), walnuts, and low-fat or nonfat yogurt.

I’m not a doctor or nutrition authority, I have become very well-informed about nutrition and healthy eating habits in the last nine years. My Mother died of cancer at age 68, she never got to see her grandson. I made the decision I would feed my family real food as often as possible. We aren’t perfect so I can’t say I’m a total health nut, but I do the best I can.

Today, I’m cautious about the food we eat. I do a lot of research on the Internet, subscribe to several newsletters about alternative health issues.

I suggest that you educate yourself and your family about your health. If your doctor practices conventional medicine and is prescribing prescription drugs, scrutinize his decisions. Have a serious talk with him about nutrition and preventative care. If you don’t get the answers you want, get a second opinion, preferably from a naturopathic doctor. No one said it would be easy, I know that and while we do try to eat right, we are not prefect and our food today is far from being perfect so we will have to take some daily food supplements like vitamin C or Omega3 rich fish oil pills.

Six Superfoods – The Secret Key to Perfect Nutrition

Daily Quote: “Perfect health is above gold; a sound body before riches.” – Solomon

I’d like to share with you some secret keys to good nutrition and some tips to eating healthy. Are you ready for some practical insider information on what the best whole food nutritional supplements are?

Before I reveal these 6 superfoods , I need to say that you should NOT be buying processed, synthetic, man-made vitamins, minerals, and nutritional supplements. Most of these products are now being made by drug companies, and most of them are being made in foreign countries like China. The main reason that you shouldn’t be buying them is that they are “synthetic” man-made chemical copies of what is found naturally in nature. In other words, most of them have been chemically produced in a pharmaceutical laboratory and are not made from the natural food sources found in nature.

This is a huge problem because your body cannot effectively utilize these “synthetic” man-made versions of vitamins and minerals. In fact, many of them are not even recognized by your body as vitamins and minerals, and they are therefore rejected by your body as toxins, which is what they really are. If you are loading up every day on “synthetic” chemically-based man-made vitamins and minerals, you are actually weakening your body with chemicals that are often toxic to your system and are not able to be recognized or utilized by your body. I encourage you to stop buying these man-made products.

The best source for natural vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, and phytonutrients is from live whole foods. In other words, eat an apple and some watermelon. Get your nutrition from real live fresh organic whole foods such as vegetables, greens, fruits, berries, grains, seeds, nuts, legumes and beans. These foods are loaded with vitamins and minerals and hundreds of other important nutrients.

In addition to eating these whole foods, you can also juice your vegetables and fruits in order to get a concentrated amount of natural vitamins, minerals, and enzymes. However, this must be done in moderation because you don’t want to overload your system with too much natural sugar found in fruits. The down side to juicing is that many people find it just too inconvenient due to the cleaning up process. People often buy a juicer and use it for several weeks or months, but soon they stop using it because it is just too much work to buy all the fresh produce, wash it, juice it, and clean up the mess afterwards day after day.

There is another “next best alternative” source for getting your natural vitamins and minerals called live whole food nutritional supplements. What does that mean? Simply put, it means that they take the fresh live organic fruits and berries, greens and vegetables, and they pick them at their peak of ripeness and nutritional value, and turn them into a juice. Then they dry the juice using a low-heat dehydration process that preserves the nutrients without preservatives. The final product is a natural powder that you simply mix with water (rehydrate) and drink. In this way you’re able to get the full nutritional value of all of that fresh live organic whole food produce, including all of the natural occurring vitamins, minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, phytonutrients, and hundreds of other nutritious compounds.

Here is a brief, condensed list of some of the very best natural whole food nutritional supplements that you can (and should) be putting in your body every day. These foods are often referred to as “superfoods” because they are loaded with powerful nutritional compounds that are so good for your body’s health, vitality, and longevity.

1. Drink a top quality organic dehydrated “Spirulina Drink” every day.

Spirulina should come in a powdered dehydrated form that you simply mix with water and drink. Never buy a green drink or superjuice that is in a liquid form because it has been pasteurized (which kills many of the living nutrients) and because it has had unhealthy preservatives added to it to keep it from going moldy. Always look for a dry dehydrated spirulina powder form that you mix with water or carrot juice.

“The Feast.” Believe it or not, my small kids even love it and demand it every morning. If you would like to learn more about this amazing green drink, you can find information on it at the following website. http://www.LiveSuperJuice.com

2. Drink some Bragg’s Organic Apple Cider Vinegar every morning.

In 400 B.C., Hippocrates (the father of medicine) discovered that natural, undestilled apple cider vinegar is a powerful cleansing and healing elixir – a naturally occurring antibiotic and antiseptic that fights germs, bacteria, mold, and viruses – for a healthier, stronger, longer life. The best kind to use is organic, raw, unfiltered, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar with the “mother” in it. You can find this at most health food stores. I recommend the Bragg’s brand and their book, “Apple Cider Vinegar Miracle Health System: Learn these Powerful Health Qualities for a Longer, Healthier, Youthful Life!” by Paul Bragg and Patricia Bragg. They recommend mixing 1-2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with some raw honey or raw agave nectar in 8 ounces of water upon rising every morning.

3. Use Extra Virgin Coconut Oil every day

In your smoothies and/or cooking. It is a very healthy oil that has many benefits for your body, including assisting in weight loss. Two more excellent oils to use are Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Sesame Oil.

4. Use as a sweetener Raw Honey

(unheated, unfiltered, natural, unprocessed pollen-rich). Also, you can take honey-related powerfoods such as propolis, bee pollen, and royal jelly. Honey possesses miraculous nutritional and medicinal properties. However, I caution you not to take more than one or two teaspoons a day. Too much honey may adversely affect the pancreas, liver, and adrenals and contribute to sugar-metabolism disorders.

5. I would also recommend taking Vitamin C on a daily basis.

Most people are deficient in vitamin C, which is an essential for our overall health. While most animals produce vitamin C in their body all by themselves, humans  unfortunately, can do no such thing. We have to eat our Vitamin C

6. Start using Himalayan Salt in your diet

In moderation. Stop using table salt immediately. It contains only sodium chloride, can cause the body to retain water which can cause swelling, edema, and cellulite; and it often has additives such as aluminum hydroxide, sodiumferrocyanide, calcium phosphate, stearic acid, and others which can be toxic. When ingested, the body recognizes table salt as a poison and accumulates water in and around the cells to protect them from this invading substance. On the other hand Krystal Salt contains all 72 mineral elements that the human body consists of in ideal proportions. All these minerals are in the perfect crystal matrix and ultimate ionic form (electrically charged). Krystal salt is the only antioxidant that works everywhere in the body. Once Krystal Salt is introduced into the body, a profound regeneration of the cell membranes becomes possible. If you would like more information on Himalayan Krystal Salt or Miracle Krystal Salt, simply do a Google search, find a producer of the salt, and order some. Then get rid of all ionized table salt from your kitchen, your diet  and your life!

I want to conclude that there are many more superfoods you should look into and learn about. You can find a lot more information about superfoods on this website, If you have any questions about superfoods, don’t hesitate to contact me.

Candida and the Power of Green Superfoods

Candida and SuperfoodsWhen I was having my 3 year stint with candida (and the beginnings of interstitial cystitis) it was not a fun time but I learned alot. At one point I was invited to go to a workshop where a woman who had healed her own breast cancer was speaking about the importance of PH balance. I didn't know much about it and I hadn't made the connection yet but it intrigued me and I went. Turned out it was really fascinating and made sense to me. Ph balance is more important than I thought. I guess you can think about it this way. Swimming pools, if we are not diligent about keeping track of the PH readings, will start to grow ugly nasty bacteria. So will our bodies. If we feed our bodies nothing but acidic foods and thoughts we will create an acidic environment. Yeast, candida, and even cancer cells change in relationship to their environment.

Since I was struggling with candida for so long I decided it would be a good idea to test my PH. I got some PH testing strips and tested my urine and to my horror I couldn't even see a reading! The lowest reading was 5.0 (a healthy body should show a reading around 6.5 – ultimately 7.3). I couldn't see a reading at all. I took it over and over. The saliva reading was somewhat better but I compared mine to others and it was significantly lower and more acidic. This blew me away because I juice everyday so I thought I had it covered. Obviously I didn't have it covered or else I would not have been struggling with candida for so long. I had already changed my diet, I was taking a good probiotic everyday and even using anti-fungals. I didn't think there was anything else I could do.

Well, I had heard and read about green superfoods like chlorella, spirulina, barley grass, wheat grass, oat grass and how they raise PH levels so I decided to experiment. I began by using chlorella and spirulina and then added others and kept track of my PH. It wasn't long (a few days) before I started to notice my interstitial cystitis symptoms fading away. I also noticed my candida symptoms becoming less and less noticable!

This was about a year ago and I have continued to do well. So I maintain a regimen of watching my food, taking a probiotic everyday (though occasionally I forget but it doesn't seem to matter) and I hardly ever seem to need the anti-fungal anymore. I put the green powder in my vegetable juice in the morning and I feel like I'm drinking a glass of "green vitality." It's awesome.

It seems, for me, that this has been the missing link to getting control of candida and interstitial cystitis.

Where Do I Get My Protein on a Raw Food Diet?

Raw Food Protein Sources

Amino Acid Illustration - Protein and SuperfoodsSince I started my raw foods diet in June 2010, one of the most frequently asked questions from my friends was where I would get my protein from? Recently even my brother expressed his concern about my protein needs. It was then I realized how important this question really is, I feel that it is my responsibility to fully explain the protein sources to those who are interested in raw food diet or maybe are concerned for themselves or their friends or family members.

Let's first look into what protein actually is…

We have all learned in school that our body consists to more than 65% of water, making up for our primary building block. The second most abundant building block of our body is protein. Our hair, skin, nails, organs, muscles, bones, and every single cell is made up of protein molecules. All protein molecules consist of a chain of amino acids. You may have heard the term "essential amino acids" – these are amino acids that cannot be used by a human body. Up to today we know about20 essential amino acids that we must include in our diet to receive the full protein requirement. (apples contain 18 of these amino acids) All plants have at least some protein because all of them contain at least one or more amino acids; the building blocks of protein.

The difference between complex proteins found in meat, dairy, and fish and the individual amino acids found in plant food is explained very well by Victoria Boutenko in her book "Green for Life:"

"It is clear that the body has to work a lot less when creating protein from the assortment of individual amino acids from greens, rather than the already combined, long molecules from protein, assembled according to the foreign patterns of a totally different creature such as a cow or a chicken"

When you eat leafy greens and other vegetables that contain lots of protein, you get  custom made amino acids for your body, freshly made with sunshine and chlorophyll, which the body will use to repair and to rebuild its parts according to your needs. Your body is a perfect working machine in need of the right fuel; you wouldn't put diesel into a Ferrari tank would you?

Myoglobin - Animal ProteinBut this is exactly what happens when you feed your body with complex animal proteins. Your body has a hard time trying to make a perfect molecule of protein out of someone else's molecules, which consist of totally different combinations of amino acids.  In addition to this already bad result, your body will most likely also receive a lot of unnecessary parts that are hard to digest and do more harm than they would do good. These parts would be floating around in your blood similar to waste for a long time, causing allergies and many other health problems. Just look at the picture; honestly, who would want to eat something that looks like that?

Soy proteins are meanwhile also known to do more harm than good and you should not consume soy products more than twice a week, The best plant based proteins are found in Spirulina, in Chlorella and in Seaweed. Spinach and other Leafy Greens from the superfoods section are also very good protein sources. And we should not forget Raw Cacao and Fresh Coconuts. If you don't mind eating an egg every then and when; organic eggs are near to 100% protein and totally healthy, especially for people who are exercising a lot and try to build some muscles!

Stay Healthy and Merry X-mas to you all!

Spirulina – The Blue Green Wonder

What is Spirulina

Spirulina is the most powerful known blue-green algae. Spirulina is a simple, one celled form of an algae thriving in warm, alkaline freshwater bodies. The name "Spirulina" itself comes from the Latin word for "helix" that stands for spiral; describing the physical configuration of the organism when it forms swirling, microscopic strands. Spirulina powder is about to become the number one superfood across the globe. Spirulina has been developed as the "Food of the Future" because of its amazing ability to synthesize high quality concentrated food more efficiently than other blue green algae. Most notably, Spirulina consists of about 70% complete protein and it also contains all essential amino acids in an almost perfect balance. Beef for example only contains about 22% of protein. So Spirulina is a natural health supplement containing far more protein than any other food known today. Spirulina is higher by volume than any other natural food and almost all nutritional supplements on the market.

This blue green algae is probably also the most exhaustively researched food micro algae ever. Spirulina has many uses and is oftentimes used by people in their own self care program for weight loss and cancer prevention as it offers more nutritional improvement for weight control and purifying blood. Spirulina is dried and pulverized to powder. For centuries it has been used as an abundant source of nutrients and has been proven to possess a vast array of medical uses, including its use as an antiviral, weight loss aid, antioxidants provider, and lipid reduction agent. Spirulina is meanwhile available everywhere around the globe. It is mostly used as an additional dietary supplement but also as whole food. It is usually obtainable in different forms which consist of powder, tablets, or flakes. I personally use a spoonful of Spirulina inmy morning shake after my workout session. That's when the body needs the energy of Spirulina most.

Spirulina also contains a high volume of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Other beneficial nutrients are GLA fatty acid, essential fatty acids, lipids, nucleic acids (RNA and DNA), vitamin C, Vitamin E and B complex. It contains phytochemicals like phycocyanin, chlorophyll and carotenoids. But we're not done yet; Spirulina is also a quality source of potassium and it contains large measures of iron, phosphorus, calcium, chromium, copper, magnesium, manganese, selenium, sodium and zinc! The protein in Spirulina is unlike other forms of protein as the protein contained is a gigantic 85-95% viable parts, which means its one of the two largest obtainable forms of protein for the body, in existence and only dried egg supplements contain more usable protein than spirulina powder.

Spirulina powder uses Sun energy and converts it into a massive supply of vitamins, minerals and proteins. Spirulina should be used by your whole family. It is perfectly safe for children and it has shown to supercharge vitality levels and increase stamina while strengthening the immune system. This greatly improves skin tone and nail and hair growth whilst providing a large quantity of nutrition with nearly no calories at all. Long before it became a supplement industry favorite, Spirulina was already used regularly by indigenous peoples all over the planet. For more than 40 years now, Spirulina has been researched for its amazing nutritional properties. Research has long proven thje effectiveness of Spirulina and people are starting to realize the power of Spirulina and recognize it as the remarkably superior food with monumental potential as a medicinal drug, that it is. Spirulina powder is often combined with fruit and vegetable juices or shakes and can also be added to food dishes to spike the nutritional content. For those of us without the time for daily preparations, it it is also available in tablets and capsules. The daily intake of Spirulina should be about 3 gram.

The Secrets Of Nutrition and Healthy Foods

About Nutrition and why you need to Eat Healthy Foods

Artichokes Pistachios Quinoa Yummie! Superfoods DinnerMore and more people understand that diseases and even depression can be prevented and healed with natural ways rather than chemicals. During the past century we developed a quick fix option for most of our common diseases. We've been spending billions on pharmaceutical medicines, for the purpose of suppressing the symptoms but not healing the root cause of the problems!

Lately many of us are also realizing that we have been fooled all along! And that there are many natural alternatives to prevent illness and disease rather than treat it. And we find that mother nature has given us the most wonderful medicine already; natural foods, packed with antioxidants and all kinds of nutrients, all designed to nourish our bodies, to keep us healthy and to give us strenght to work at an optimum level; and all that is necessary for evolution to work. Natural grown, whole grain and organic foods and their nutritional elements are also used as medicine.

You can discover the healing secrets of food all by yourself, take the responsibility of your own health into your own hands. Doctors give you medicine and cut things out to solve the problem, a naturopathic Nutritionists follow another principle. They treat patients as one whole element of body, mind and soul. If you look at it that way you get a much broader view of deficiencies that may be causing the illness. Treatments are specific to each individual, making sure you take a balanced combination of nutrients and minerals. Such treatments are always tailored specifically to your individual needs, to get your body back to full strength and make or keep you healthy.

Why are Whole Foods so Important.

Some whole foods that contain a high range of important nutrients are often called superfoods e.g wheatgrass, sprouts, spirulina, and more. All whole foods are a mixture of vital nutrients and other minerals, so while a food may be rich in one particular nutrients it may also contain other valuable nutrients and health-giving factors in lesser doses. Finding healthy foods that even taste good and give you the best nutrition are a big part of the fun of eating well, no matter if you live alone, or with your family.

What makes a Healthy Diet?

The answer can be given in one single sentence:

Nutrition determines how we look, how we feel, how we work, if we will be nervous, tired, pessimistic, joyful, comfortable and happily active, whether we will age prematurely or enjoy our lives to the full.

Try these steps to improve the nutritional content of your food:

Eat healthy organic food whenever possible. Try to find superfoods and food supplements in your neighborhood. Inform yourself; read articles about healthy foods. Super Foods may be a bit more expensive, but you can be sure that the food you are eating has not been processed and has been grown without the use of fertilizers, pesticides, hormones, and other poisonous chemicals.

Here are some Food Processing Rules to Follow

  • Include as many superfoods in your diet as you can.
  • Eat lots whole grains.
  • Also eat the skin of vegetables and fruits.
  • Don't cut, juice, wash, or soak fruits and vegetables until you are ready to use them.
  • Drink lots of fresh fruit and vegetable juice.
  • Add plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to every meal you eat.
  • Eat raw food whenever possible. If you're cooking your food, use as little water as possible.

Unfortunately, some of the best superfoods might not be available in your neighborhood, but that isn't so bad anymore as it was only a few years ago, If I would have even known about Acai berries for example, ten years ago, I still wouldn't have had the means to go to Brazil to get some. Today it's far easier, you just visit our health shop and you order all the superfoods you ever wanted and they are at your doorstep 2 days later! That's what I call progress.  Or you go to the next online bookstore and order a book full of superfood recipes and you start cooking healthy foods with the everyday superfoods what you can get in your neighborhood.

Learn How Green Super Foods Can Improve Your Health

Superfoods can give your body the nutrient rich diet it needs to be healthy!

Nutrient Cycle in the Ocean Graphic Illustration

Illustration: Hannes Grobe

The Western diet at times is so nutritionally poor that the reality is that we are starving our body of what it needs to perform. The soil in which our food grows is becoming depleted, nutrient levels are lower than they were years ago. Plus, with all the man-made additives, preservatives and colorings in our foods we are placing so much stress put on our system as our body struggles to deal with these toxins – which can lead to the common illness problems of fatigue and obesity as well as more serious illnesses.

Let’s tell the truth here; we all have our weaknesses, we eat the wrong stuff most of the time and we don’t exercise enough, if at all. But what are the alternatives? Well I think that green superfoods can be at least a major part of the solution.

Superfoods, coming from the land or from the sea, are the most nutritionally rich foods available – they are packed full of vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids and phytonutrients *. The green superfoods are so called due to their high chlorophyll content. Chlorophyll has blood cleansing properties and is thought to help rid your body of some of the toxins caused by our western diet.

Other key benefits are that they can act as an energy booster, helping us with stamina to get through our busy lives and by strengthening our immune systems.

Once our body has received and been satisfied with the nutrients it needs to function it will stop craving for additional food.

Below is a brief synopsis of three green superfoods:

Wheatgrass is fantastic for your overall health through its cleansing and detoxifying properties. It can really help improve a sluggish digestive system, leaving you feeling refreshed and more energetic.

Chlorella is great for boosting the immune system and can really help with a detox program. Its ability to grab hold of toxins and remove them from your system can leave you feeling cleaner inside.

Spirulina, which is a microscopic blue green algae, is bursting full of protein and can really help to improve our stamina levels. It is becoming a lot more popular with athletes and gym-goers who find it improves their performance.

I hope my article will help more people to understand superfoods and in particular how they may reduce cravings for processed foods. Ultimately we all have a choice about what we put into our bodies, but as mentioned at the beginning of the article, you can’t expect your body to function properly if you fuel it with the wrong type of food.

* Phytochemicals are chemical compounds that occur naturally in plants, such as beta-carotene. The terms Phytochemicals and Phytonutrients are generally used to refer to those chemicals that may affect health, but are not yet established as essential nutrients.

Why Greens Are So Important For Your Health
