Skin Cancer – One Year Later

Healthy Foods - SuperfoodsIt’s been a while since I found the time to write about myself and how I’m doing with superfoods and healthy living. I’m a successful webmaster and internet marketer and it comes with the territory that we alway have the least time to work on our own sites. I first started this blog about superfoods and information that I feel, everybody needs and is entitled to have, one year ago and I’m walking the walk since then. I don’t know if you realized, but we are living in the most fantastic time ever! Never before, in history of mankind, we had the possibility to get the worlds best superfoods delivered to our doorsteps. Neither our parents nor any of our ancestors could go the local health store and just get the world’s best food supplements for a more or less affordable price. No generation before us had ever the chance to simply order all superfoods and food supplements online! As I said, we’re living in an incredible time! We can have it all today; and who dares to say that we can’t get 150 years old if we only eat the best superfoods? Now it’s all in our hands what we do with this unique chance. All the information about superfoods is available on the internet today and so nobody can say: “I didn’t know… nobody told me..”

Who is interested in Superfoods?

Goji Berries BranchBut you know what; I found that only a fraction of the people who could actually afford to live healthy, really do live healthy! What amazes me most after talking with hundreds of people about superfoods, healthy living and longevity, is that most of them don’t seem to care much and love their burgers and french fries! Some people though, had wide open ears and adapted my raw food diet which consists mainly of delicious,  fresh organic salads made of all kinds of vegetables, organic eggs (only organic eggs or none at all), Spirulina, fresh carrot and apple juice and sometimes fresh fish.  I am not a vegan nor a strict vegetarian, I don’t eat meat and I wouldn’t even get near a chicken anymore today! If you feel you need to eat chicken, watch the movie “Food Inc”, I promise, chicken will never the the same. Many people also tell me that they don’t want to get old, being afraid of becoming helpless and dependent. but that’s not what happens; if you live healthy you will get old and vital and you will be in charge of your life. But I’m not giving in! With many people who have changed their diet after talking with me and seeing (and often tasting) how I live, I’m still in contact today and I get amazing feedback!

What is the perfect diet?

Fresh Organic WheatgrassThere is no such thing as a perfect diet, I’m afraid. A diet is individual for each person but don’t worry, you have your body as your best friend! Your body will soon tell you what the ideal diet for you is. Follow your nose and your instincts. If something doesn’t taste good when you try it the first time, give it a couple of more chances, our body is a world champion in adjusting. Things I never liked to eat taste fantastic today! I even like Spirulina. I suggest that  you try to eat raw food, if possible organic or as much organic as you can get or afford, for one month and watch your weight carefully. Raw food also contains sugar and sometimes a lot of sugar. Sweet fruits and even superfoods like amalaki / gooseberry, bananas and pineapple, but also carrots and cucumbers contain large amounts of sugars. While  these sugars are of the ‘good kind’ of sugars, not like the white sugar from the supermarket, they will still produce fat in your body. Here is where exercising kicks in! A good diet doesn’t consist of healthy food only. Other factors for a balanced health and longevity, are exercise and meditation. If your body is fit, your digesting system will work perfect and keep everything in balance. After one month you should already be able to see significant results! Your skin will look healthier, you will feel fit the whole day long and will not get tired in the afternoon anymore. You will probably find that you have been very productive in whatever it is you’re doing. After four to eight weeks on an organic superfoods diet your weight will also have leveled, and even if you loose weight in the beginning, your body will automatically find it’s ideal weight after some time.

Finally I want to give you a list of the healthy foods and superfoods that made my meals interesting, tasty and absolutely healthy during the past year! I also want to add that my cancer has gone, I’m obviously still sticking around, and that I won’t give it a chance to come back! For me it was the yellow card in the world championship finals and we all know what a second yellow card means! Therefore I will keep up my healthy and very tasty diet, keep on doing sports like bicycling, swimming, weight lifting and running several times a week and live at least  another seventy years! It’s all about the right nutrition, antioxidants and being fit and therefore everything is possible and no one before us had the chance to try…

Most fruits are considered to be superfoods. Oranges, limes, lemons and grapefruits are composed of flavonoids. Flavonoids are antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer and can prevent blood clotting. Likewise, are berries, they are also rich in antioxidants and can help improve memory and brain functionality. Vitamin C and fiber can also be obtained from berries. Another vegetable, the tomato, also contains antioxidants thanks to its major component lycopene which minimizes cellular damage.

Cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower also help prevent or at least hinder the development of cancer cells. they contain high amounts of antioxidants. Their major component is sulforaphane, which is known to prevents cancer. On the other hand, spinach is also considered a superfood since it is composed of lutein. Lutein can prevent blindness as well as muscular degeneration.

In terms of protein, wild salmon and non fat turkey meat from organic farming, are both considered to be superfoods as well. Wild salmon and other fatty fish, contain lots of omega-3 fatty acids which prevent blood clotting. Salmon also can help minimize the risk of heart disease and the occurrence of a stroke. Since our body cannot make its own omega-3 fatty acids, it is imperative to find alternative means to get omega-3 fatty acids into our bodies. Turkey also contains selenium, which helps the thyroids, boosts the immune system, and decreases the chance of cancer ever developing. Turkey is low in calories and fat, which qualifies it as one of the best sources of animal protein.

Other superfods that are commonly used in our kitchens that are considered superfoods are oats, nuts, ginger, onions and garlic. Oats can be used to lower cholesterol levels. Diabetics can also benefit from eating oats since this has less sugar. Similarly, nuts can also be used to lower cholesterol levels. Nuts, specifically walnuts, contain omega-3 fatty acids, which, as mentioned earlier, also prevent heart disease. Garlic and onions have been found to lower cholesterol levels as well as blood pressure.

It’s logic that no one in their right mind would make a conscious decision for being extra heavy, would you?. There are no real benefits for being fat. Being heavy carries so many impractical implications with it that it just can’t be all that much fun.

Chubbiness also restricts general movement of the body. Being flabby makes you feel lethargic, even lazy, but it can certainly encourage you to eat even more of the wrong foods that have got you there in the first place. Comparatively, many obese people do not believe they look as good as they could do and some even develop a dislike or maybe a hate for their own body. Tubbiness certainly doesn’t make you feel as good as you could feel, and some say it even dampens your sex life. But more importantly it increases your risk of ill health – and of that there’s no doubt. It is even believed to reduce your life span. There is an abundance of medical evidence to prove this is so, and the effects of obesity will now be so bad that some believe that a great many of our children of today can be the first generation never to outlive their parents. The truth is hard but simple – being flabby and obese encumbers our lives in so many ways…So why can we allow this to happen, why can we do that to ourselves?

So we now sit in the course of an corpulence epidemic and in reality, no one really wants to be or has chosen to get heavy or obese. And that is despite over 200 million websites of eating habits plans, diet regime pills and diet regime potions. And then there’s the authority suggestion, the medical advice, the recommendation of nutritionists and untold food intake companies – all unusually wanting to take your custom. So what isn’t working? We only have to take in the moment and pause…look around us to see that something is obviously very very wrong. And do the government want it for being so? I don’t believe so, as heaviness costs our nation billions of dollars a year. It is perhaps more the case that they are not really sure of how to tackle this self inflicted epidemic, which is second only to smoking in the stakes of measurable loss of life.

So why? Why do we intentionally inflict this self induced ‘illness’ upon ourselves? Incredibly, despite the fact we know which foods we must always eat, we know which foods are good for us and we know which are the ‘badies’. But despite all this, we still eat too much and too much of the wrong stuff. We still self inflict the misery of obesity upon ourselves.

If a close friend appeared for being alarmed and severe in telling you that the food you were almost to eat, contained the deadly poison arsenic in it, your natural reaction that i see to stop ‘dead in your tracks’ or at the least hesitate to confirm. Are they kidding? Do they mean it? And that could be our dilemma in a nut shell. We don’t experience an immediate or real threat to our lives when we are eating what is deemed to get food that is certainly ‘bad’ for us. Some processed foods, most fast foods and all junk foods. we are accustomed to eating it and our ‘egos’ accepts it and therefore there is no threat to our instinctive survival mechanisms. Our primeval instinct to survive does not ‘see’ eating as a threat to life itself. we are natural eating ‘machines’. And so if our ‘egos’ accepts it – we do.

Is there an option to do nothing as an individual? Can we allow to wait for the miracle ‘diet regime drug’ to stem our appetite? Only you can decide. But would you want to be on ‘diet drugs’ for the rest of your life – day in day out drug dependent just for the sake of…eating? Experts say most would not and it almost sounds ludicrous to even consider the option. There is another method…and that could be to go back to basics.

We have existed on this planet for well over 2,000,000 years and for 99.5 percent of the time we survived well as the hunter and gatherer, and proudly became head of the food chain. No, I’m not suggesting in any shape or form that we must go back to living a ‘cave man’ life style, (even though it would probably be healthier!), but I am suggesting we must learn from our genetic inheritance. It is suggested that 99% of our nutritional genes have remained unchanged over that humongous period of time, and yet our diet in the last 50 years has changed beyond all recognition. Totally.

Who are we, apart from just mere mortals to ever think we are able to dictate to ‘Mother Nature’ in providing today’s diet regime, when man’s body has changed and mutated over million years of evolution to accept what is now thought being a much narrower range of ‘acceptable foods’. Our body is doing and saying what it has always done over hundreds and thousands of generations before us, and yet we elect not to listen. We choose to ignore the signs and believe “I’ll be alright”. Our ancestors left us a heritage of which we must be proud – but sadly we are failing to leave anything like as comparable.

For now, obesity still remains a matter of choice…but choice means a decision.

Although many scientists in the western world are well aware of the existence and the effect that superfoods have on the human body, the interest of the pharmaceutical industry remains very low, for the simple reason, that there is no money to be made with superfoods! Nevertheless, the same pharmaceutical industry is employing most of the scientists and therefor blocking evolution itself.  I strongly believe superfoods to be the most important discovery of mankind, and here is why:

On April 29th 2010 I was diagnosed with skin cancer; Squamous cell carcinoma to be precise. That was devastating news. At first, I went in circles and didn't know what to do; for sure I wasn't going to give up and die just like that! And as so often in the most miserable moments of our lives,  a friend was there to help. She recommended the movie "Food Matters" to me. After watching the movie about five times, a light started to shine on the dark horizon and I started to implement everything I had learned about superfoods in this move  into my own live. But I had licked blood and I was sure that wasn't all I could do. I started to search on Google and I learned everything there was to know about skin cancer and about superfood.

The amount of information I found was just overwhelming and I quickly wished there was a place you could get all this Information about Superfoods on one single place. There are many good websites out there about nutrition and super food and antioxidants and what the do. So I had the idea to create a website with articles from all these valuable websites, with links to the appropriate site, so everybody who would come to my site would find all the infos easily and could start using available superfoods right away.

After my initial diagnose of skin cancer I had started to take food supplements, such as Vitamin C every day, and most of all "Peking Grass" that considerably pushed the immune system, and a multivitamin  pill per day. I eat mostly raw food, salads, vegetables and fruits and I work out 6 days a week for an hour. At the end of May 2010 I had a second surgery on my neck. I don't want to tell you about my feelings at this time, when I had to wait 10 days for the result. On top of it all, this all happened in Bangkok to the time when the city was under lock-down and looked more like Beirut than the the Thai metropolis. In short, a depressive time. And therefore, when the result finally came back negative, the relief was unimaginable!

Since then I keep up with my new lifestyle. I keep my diet, and I started to love it and I really don't miss any other food at all. There are so many healthy foods out there, it simply makes no sense to me to eat anything else. My weight loss in 5 month was 10 kg on fat and I gained about 7 kg on pure muscle! So I actually can only pride myself of  loosing 3 kg weight in total but if I look in the mirror I can see that the masses have moved from down on my belly and my waist, upwards to my chest and my shoulders! That looks much better I can tell you! As of today I'm still cancer free and I intend to keep it that way. The only regret I have is that I didn't know all that what I know today about superfoods, years ago. I would have saved myself a great deal of trouble, not to speak of the money.
