Skin Cancer – One Year Later

Healthy Foods - SuperfoodsIt’s been a while since I found the time to write about myself and how I’m doing with superfoods and healthy living. I’m a successful webmaster and internet marketer and it comes with the territory that we alway have the least time to work on our own sites. I first started this blog about superfoods and information that I feel, everybody needs and is entitled to have, one year ago and I’m walking the walk since then. I don’t know if you realized, but we are living in the most fantastic time ever! Never before, in history of mankind, we had the possibility to get the worlds best superfoods delivered to our doorsteps. Neither our parents nor any of our ancestors could go the local health store and just get the world’s best food supplements for a more or less affordable price. No generation before us had ever the chance to simply order all superfoods and food supplements online! As I said, we’re living in an incredible time! We can have it all today; and who dares to say that we can’t get 150 years old if we only eat the best superfoods? Now it’s all in our hands what we do with this unique chance. All the information about superfoods is available on the internet today and so nobody can say: “I didn’t know… nobody told me..”

Who is interested in Superfoods?

Goji Berries BranchBut you know what; I found that only a fraction of the people who could actually afford to live healthy, really do live healthy! What amazes me most after talking with hundreds of people about superfoods, healthy living and longevity, is that most of them don’t seem to care much and love their burgers and french fries! Some people though, had wide open ears and adapted my raw food diet which consists mainly of delicious,  fresh organic salads made of all kinds of vegetables, organic eggs (only organic eggs or none at all), Spirulina, fresh carrot and apple juice and sometimes fresh fish.  I am not a vegan nor a strict vegetarian, I don’t eat meat and I wouldn’t even get near a chicken anymore today! If you feel you need to eat chicken, watch the movie “Food Inc”, I promise, chicken will never the the same. Many people also tell me that they don’t want to get old, being afraid of becoming helpless and dependent. but that’s not what happens; if you live healthy you will get old and vital and you will be in charge of your life. But I’m not giving in! With many people who have changed their diet after talking with me and seeing (and often tasting) how I live, I’m still in contact today and I get amazing feedback!

What is the perfect diet?

Fresh Organic WheatgrassThere is no such thing as a perfect diet, I’m afraid. A diet is individual for each person but don’t worry, you have your body as your best friend! Your body will soon tell you what the ideal diet for you is. Follow your nose and your instincts. If something doesn’t taste good when you try it the first time, give it a couple of more chances, our body is a world champion in adjusting. Things I never liked to eat taste fantastic today! I even like Spirulina. I suggest that  you try to eat raw food, if possible organic or as much organic as you can get or afford, for one month and watch your weight carefully. Raw food also contains sugar and sometimes a lot of sugar. Sweet fruits and even superfoods like amalaki / gooseberry, bananas and pineapple, but also carrots and cucumbers contain large amounts of sugars. While  these sugars are of the ‘good kind’ of sugars, not like the white sugar from the supermarket, they will still produce fat in your body. Here is where exercising kicks in! A good diet doesn’t consist of healthy food only. Other factors for a balanced health and longevity, are exercise and meditation. If your body is fit, your digesting system will work perfect and keep everything in balance. After one month you should already be able to see significant results! Your skin will look healthier, you will feel fit the whole day long and will not get tired in the afternoon anymore. You will probably find that you have been very productive in whatever it is you’re doing. After four to eight weeks on an organic superfoods diet your weight will also have leveled, and even if you loose weight in the beginning, your body will automatically find it’s ideal weight after some time.

My List of Superfoods

Finally I want to give you a list of the healthy foods and superfoods that made my meals interesting, tasty and absolutely healthy during the past year! I also want to add that my cancer has gone, I’m obviously still sticking around, and that I won’t give it a chance to come back! For me it was the yellow card in the world championship finals and we all know what a second yellow card means! Therefore I will keep up my healthy and very tasty diet, keep on doing sports like bicycling, swimming, weight lifting and running several times a week and live at least  another seventy years! It’s all about the right nutrition, antioxidants and being fit and therefore everything is possible and no one before us had the chance to try…

Hence, although the life span of humans has increased compared to 5000 years ago, the quality of health has decreased considerably.

As a result, each generation becomes weaker and weaker with various complaints and health problems. However, by eating natural and organic super foods that are specially selected; you will be able to get the trace minerals and the special anti oxidants that your body needs to maintain its health equilibrium (on its daily chemical and biological processes).

Unfortunately, the types of soil as well as the type of foods that are available today do not contain the necessary trace elements that are needed by your body. Superfoods For Health

What are Superfoods? Superfoods are whole foods. Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed or are only minimally processed in a way that none or little of the nutrition has been altered or destroyed. Canned foods for example, are processed foods. Cooked foods are also processed foods and therefore less healthy than raw foods.

Superfoods are not necessarily some exotic fruits. Apples have been proven to be potent weapons against cancer, heart disease, asthma, and type 2 diabetes but other fruits and vegetables have some remarkable health benefits as well. Or strawberries and raspberries for instance; they contain a compound called ellagic acid, one of the best cancer fighters nature ever created. When you’re eating these fruits the ellagic acid enters the bloodstream and will help to destroy cancer cells on contact.

Other “Superfoods” which can improve your health, boost your immune system to a healthy level and take care of anti aging are:

  • Beans such as pinto beans, black beans and lentils are another series of foods to lower cholesterol, combat heart disease, stabilize blood sugar, reduce obesity, relieve constipation and lessen the risk of cancer.
  • Blueberries are a small but mighty nutritional force. They combine more powerful antioxidants than any other fruit or vegetables. Although they have many health benefits, the one thing they are known for most is the ability to lower your risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Broccoli is a great cancer fighter and very beneficial in many other ways as well.

Make sure you buy the right kind of dark chocolate, one that isn’t as processed and has a high cacao content. Raw cacao beans or nibs are even better since the chocolate needs to be heated up.
  • Garlic and onions are great cancer fighting foods
  • Honey is beneficial in maintaining optimal blood-sugar levels. Honey should be consumed as is, fresh from the spoon. adding honey to your tea will destroy most of it’s benefits.
  • Kiwi is an antioxidant all-star. It offers an unusual array of health-promoting substances. One very important thing it does is it promotes heart health by helping to lower triglycerides levels and reducing platelet hyperactivity.

Other superfoods that display great health promoting properties are – oranges, pomegranates, pumpkins, wild salmon, soy, spinach, tea, tomatoes, turkey (skinless breast), walnuts, and low-fat or nonfat yogurt.

I’m not a doctor or nutrition authority, I have become very well-informed about nutrition and healthy eating habits in the last nine years. My Mother died of cancer at age 68, she never got to see her grandson. I made the decision I would feed my family real food as often as possible. We aren’t perfect so I can’t say I’m a total health nut, but I do the best I can.

Today, I’m cautious about the food we eat. I do a lot of research on the Internet, subscribe to several newsletters about alternative health issues.

I suggest that you educate yourself and your family about your health. If your doctor practices conventional medicine and is prescribing prescription drugs, scrutinize his decisions. Have a serious talk with him about nutrition and preventative care. If you don’t get the answers you want, get a second opinion, preferably from a naturopathic doctor. No one said it would be easy, I know that and while we do try to eat right, we are not prefect and our food today is far from being perfect so we will have to take some daily food supplements like vitamin C or Omega3 rich fish oil pills.

Benefits of Eating Superfoods

Superfoods are various types of foods that are good for your body. Whether you are an avid athlete or are someone who is simply trying to eat better, consuming food that is healthy for you will benefit you overall. Examples of these foods include things such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Studies have shown that eating a variety of raw fruits and vegetables can help prevent certain diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. However, it should be noted that you cannot simply eat superfoods by themselves. Rather, a diet that consists of both healthy eating as well as plenty of exercise and rest are ideal for a long, healthy life.

To go about eating superfoods, you should first begin by considering your current diet. What sorts of foods are you eating now? Does your diet consist of mostly carbohydrates in the form of rice, pasta and breads? On an average day, how many servings of vegetables are you consuming? For instance, you should be getting at least five to ten servings of fruits and vegetables a day. To give you an idea of what this would look like, one orange is equal to one serving of fruit. In order to make things a little bit easier so that we could get all of our fruit and vegetable servings, my boyfriend and I invested a very small amount of money into purchasing a juicer. The juicer has been a godsend in terms of making eating healthier both easy and fun.

For ideas on juicing recipes, simply look some up online or come up with your own. My personal favorite includes a juice recipe of four to five organic carrots, a small serving of fresh ginger, kale leaves and three apples. In this one juice, I am already getting over half of my daily intake of fruits and veggies, and it didn’t cost me that much or take that much time to do! For many people, juicing makes eating their vegetables and fruits more palatable. However, for some of us, we prefer to eat our fruits and veggies raw. For example, veggies and fruits make great snacks for in between meals- plus they are super healthy! Some examples include things such as grape tomatoes, baby carrots, blueberries, a few apple slices or even a few cuts of celery. Even something as small as an orange makes a great snack that is both incredibly filling as well as nutritious.

One of the benefits to eating fruits and vegetable is that they fill you up. Because these foods are nutrient rich and often dense in fiber, you often feel full after just a little snack. As we all know, fiber is great for digestion as well as improving your overall weight. If you are looking to improve your diet or if you are trying to lose weight in a healthy way, try to make sure that the ratio of raw fruits and vegetables is higher than the ratio of processed foods, starches and grains that you consume. Combine this with sufficient sleep and a little exercise, and you’ll be on your way to a more healthful you.

The Story Of Li Ching Yuen

Li Ching Yuen - Anti Aging with Goji BerriesHere’s a little story about Goji Berries. Li, Ching-Yuen or Li,Ching-Yun was a Chinese herbalist, martial artist and tactical advisor. It is claimed that he was born in 1734 while disputed records say he was born on 1677. His lifespan of 199 or 256 years, in any case, far exceed the longest confirmed lifespan of 122 years and 164 days.

The story goes that Li Ching-Yuen was supposedly born in 1677 in Qi Jiang Xian, Szechun province. He spent most of his life in the mountain ranges gathering herbs and knowledge of longevity methods. In 1749 when he was already 71 years old, he moved to Kai Xian to join the Chinese Army to be a teacher of the martial arts and a tactical advisor.

Professor Wu Chung Chieh, from the Chengdu University, found records from the Chinese Imperial Government congratulating Li Ching Yuen on his 150th birthday in 1827.

In 1927, 100 years later, he was invited by General Yang Sen in Wang Xien, Szechuan. There the general was fascinated at his youthfulness, strength and prowess despite his advancing age. His famous portrait was taken there.

In May 1933, he died of natural causes. General Yang Sen after Li’s death investigated the truth about his age. and later wrote the report and got published. Witnesses interviewed from his home province remembered already seeing Li when they were children and others reported that Li had already been friends with their grandfathers.

Sad to say this story will continue to be a longevity myth and not treated as a fact. His actual lifespan will never be firmly established due to the fact that the census documentation of rural 17th century China is so sparse with comparisons to modern records. Though his story has well been documented in a featured documentary by National Geographic magazine in 1930. Oh well, but at least one secret to Li’s longevity is already produced right now. Yes, the raw organic superfood Tibetan Goji Berries.
