News from the Superfoods Front

Skin Cancer – One Year Later

Healthy Foods - SuperfoodsIt’s been a while since I found the time to write about myself and how I’m doing with superfoods and healthy living. I’m a successful webmaster and internet marketer and it comes with the territory that we alway have the least time to work on our own sites. I first started this blog about superfoods and information that I feel, everybody needs and is entitled to have, one year ago and I’m walking the walk since then. I don’t know if you realized, but we are living in the most fantastic time ever! Never before, in history of mankind, we had the possibility to get the worlds best superfoods delivered to our doorsteps. Neither our parents nor any of our ancestors could go the local health store and just get the world’s best food supplements for a more or less affordable price. No generation before us had ever the chance to simply order all superfoods and food supplements online! As I said, we’re living in an incredible time! We can have it all today; and who dares to say that we can’t get 150 years old if we only eat the best superfoods? Now it’s all in our hands what we do with this unique chance. All the information about superfoods is available on the internet today and so nobody can say: “I didn’t know… nobody told me..”

Who is interested in Superfoods?

Goji Berries BranchBut you know what; I found that only a fraction of the people who could actually afford to live healthy, really do live healthy! What amazes me most after talking with hundreds of people about superfoods, healthy living and longevity, is that most of them don’t seem to care much and love their burgers and french fries! Some people though, had wide open ears and adapted my raw food diet which consists mainly of delicious,  fresh organic salads made of all kinds of vegetables, organic eggs (only organic eggs or none at all), Spirulina, fresh carrot and apple juice and sometimes fresh fish.  I am not a vegan nor a strict vegetarian, I don’t eat meat and I wouldn’t even get near a chicken anymore today! If you feel you need to eat chicken, watch the movie “Food Inc”, I promise, chicken will never the the same. Many people also tell me that they don’t want to get old, being afraid of becoming helpless and dependent. but that’s not what happens; if you live healthy you will get old and vital and you will be in charge of your life. But I’m not giving in! With many people who have changed their diet after talking with me and seeing (and often tasting) how I live, I’m still in contact today and I get amazing feedback!

What is the perfect diet?

Fresh Organic WheatgrassThere is no such thing as a perfect diet, I’m afraid. A diet is individual for each person but don’t worry, you have your body as your best friend! Your body will soon tell you what the ideal diet for you is. Follow your nose and your instincts. If something doesn’t taste good when you try it the first time, give it a couple of more chances, our body is a world champion in adjusting. Things I never liked to eat taste fantastic today! I even like Spirulina. I suggest that  you try to eat raw food, if possible organic or as much organic as you can get or afford, for one month and watch your weight carefully. Raw food also contains sugar and sometimes a lot of sugar. Sweet fruits and even superfoods like amalaki / gooseberry, bananas and pineapple, but also carrots and cucumbers contain large amounts of sugars. While  these sugars are of the ‘good kind’ of sugars, not like the white sugar from the supermarket, they will still produce fat in your body. Here is where exercising kicks in! A good diet doesn’t consist of healthy food only. Other factors for a balanced health and longevity, are exercise and meditation. If your body is fit, your digesting system will work perfect and keep everything in balance. After one month you should already be able to see significant results! Your skin will look healthier, you will feel fit the whole day long and will not get tired in the afternoon anymore. You will probably find that you have been very productive in whatever it is you’re doing. After four to eight weeks on an organic superfoods diet your weight will also have leveled, and even if you loose weight in the beginning, your body will automatically find it’s ideal weight after some time.

My List of Superfoods

Finally I want to give you a list of the healthy foods and superfoods that made my meals interesting, tasty and absolutely healthy during the past year! I also want to add that my cancer has gone, I’m obviously still sticking around, and that I won’t give it a chance to come back! For me it was the yellow card in the world championship finals and we all know what a second yellow card means! Therefore I will keep up my healthy and very tasty diet, keep on doing sports like bicycling, swimming, weight lifting and running several times a week and live at least  another seventy years! It’s all about the right nutrition, antioxidants and being fit and therefore everything is possible and no one before us had the chance to try…

Acai Berry vs Pomegranate

Pomegranates and Acai Berries – Powerful Superfoods

Pomegranates - Illustration of Punica Granatum The Acai berry and pomegranates are two of the most talked about superfoods in the health food industry. Both are an amazing natural source for many important vitamins and minerals. The question is; if you can only use one or the other which is better? This article is going to pit these two superfoods against each other and help you decide which one to pick.

In The Far Corner Wearing The Red Trunks We Have The Pomegranate!

The pomegranate is a sweet and tart tasting fruit that is native to Iran and northern India. There are many stories and legends surrounding this fruit, and it has been said that Helen of Troy used pomegranates to help make her more beautiful. Those legends all have some truth behind them, because the pomegranate is one of the healthiest fruits on the planet. Here are some of the main benefits you get from eating pomegranates:

  • Has a high level of antioxidants (10,500 on the ORAC Assay)
  • Is rich in vitamin C, A, E and folic acid
  • Reduces plaque in arteries and raises the levels of good cholesterol
  • Prevents enzymes from damaging cartilage
  • Fights cancer cells
  • Slows down aging

Those all sound great; now let’s take a look at how Acai stacks up

In The Near Corner Wearing The Purple Trunks We Have The Acai Berry!

Acai is a small purple berry that is native to the Amazon Rainforests. It is a staple for the native people, and has recently exploded in popularity around the world. It has an amazing flavor that is similar to a mix of chocolate and berries. Here is a look at what type of benefits you can get from Acai:

  • Has a high level of antioxidants (18,400 on the ORAC Assay)
  • Is a great source for essential fatty acids
  • Provides a boost of energy similar to coffee (without caffeine)
  • Fights cancer cells
  • Slows down aging
  • Contains high levels of fiber, amino acids, and Vitamins C, E, and B

Those are some pretty powerful benefits from a little berry, but are it enough to defeat the pomegranate?

And The Winner Is…

In a very close decision I have to give the win to the Acai berry. The determining factor is that Acai has a higher count of antioxidants (18,400 vs 10,500). Many of the benefits derived from these two fruits is based on their antioxidant power, so Acai takes that category hands down. The energy boost is very helpful for almost everyone, so that helps make it the more well-rounded superfood. The only edge pomegranates have is its ability to protect your cartilage and prevent arthritis.

Superfoods For Health

What are Superfoods? Superfoods are whole foods. Whole foods are foods that are unprocessed or are only minimally processed in a way that none or little of the nutrition has been altered or destroyed. Canned foods for example, are processed foods. Cooked foods are also processed foods and therefore less healthy than raw foods.

Superfoods are not necessarily some exotic fruits. Apples have been proven to be potent weapons against cancer, heart disease, asthma, and type 2 diabetes but other fruits and vegetables have some remarkable health benefits as well. Or strawberries and raspberries for instance; they contain a compound called ellagic acid, one of the best cancer fighters nature ever created. When you’re eating these fruits the ellagic acid enters the bloodstream and will help to destroy cancer cells on contact.

Other “Superfoods” which can improve your health, boost your immune system to a healthy level and take care of anti aging are:

  • Beans such as pinto beans, black beans and lentils are another series of foods to lower cholesterol, combat heart disease, stabilize blood sugar, reduce obesity, relieve constipation and lessen the risk of cancer.
  • Blueberries are a small but mighty nutritional force. They combine more powerful antioxidants than any other fruit or vegetables. Although they have many health benefits, the one thing they are known for most is the ability to lower your risk of cardiovascular disease.
  • Broccoli is a great cancer fighter and very beneficial in many other ways as well.
  • Avocados are believed to help lower cholesterol and they are rich in magnesium (an essential nutrient for healthy bones)
  • Dark chocolate may come as a real surprise to most, as being one of the healthiest foods on the planet. It’s a source of phytonutrients which act as an antioxidant that helps protect our DNA and inhibits the growth of unwanted blood vessels. Make sure you buy the right kind of dark chocolate, one that isn’t as processed and has a high cacao content. Raw cacao beans or nibs are even better since the chocolate needs to be heated up.
  • Garlic and onions are great cancer fighting foods
  • Honey is beneficial in maintaining optimal blood-sugar levels. Honey should be consumed as is, fresh from the spoon. adding honey to your tea will destroy most of it’s benefits.
  • Kiwi is an antioxidant all-star. It offers an unusual array of health-promoting substances. One very important thing it does is it promotes heart health by helping to lower triglycerides levels and reducing platelet hyperactivity.

Other superfoods that display great health promoting properties are – oranges, pomegranates, pumpkins, wild salmon, soy, spinach, tea, tomatoes, turkey (skinless breast), walnuts, and low-fat or nonfat yogurt.

I’m not a doctor or nutrition authority, I have become very well-informed about nutrition and healthy eating habits in the last nine years. My Mother died of cancer at age 68, she never got to see her grandson. I made the decision I would feed my family real food as often as possible. We aren’t perfect so I can’t say I’m a total health nut, but I do the best I can.

Today, I’m cautious about the food we eat. I do a lot of research on the Internet, subscribe to several newsletters about alternative health issues.

I suggest that you educate yourself and your family about your health. If your doctor practices conventional medicine and is prescribing prescription drugs, scrutinize his decisions. Have a serious talk with him about nutrition and preventative care. If you don’t get the answers you want, get a second opinion, preferably from a naturopathic doctor. No one said it would be easy, I know that and while we do try to eat right, we are not prefect and our food today is far from being perfect so we will have to take some daily food supplements like vitamin C or Omega3 rich fish oil pills.

Benefits of Eating Superfoods

Superfoods are various types of foods that are good for your body. Whether you are an avid athlete or are someone who is simply trying to eat better, consuming food that is healthy for you will benefit you overall. Examples of these foods include things such as fresh fruits and vegetables. Studies have shown that eating a variety of raw fruits and vegetables can help prevent certain diseases such as cancer and cardiovascular disease. However, it should be noted that you cannot simply eat superfoods by themselves. Rather, a diet that consists of both healthy eating as well as plenty of exercise and rest are ideal for a long, healthy life.

To go about eating superfoods, you should first begin by considering your current diet. What sorts of foods are you eating now? Does your diet consist of mostly carbohydrates in the form of rice, pasta and breads? On an average day, how many servings of vegetables are you consuming? For instance, you should be getting at least five to ten servings of fruits and vegetables a day. To give you an idea of what this would look like, one orange is equal to one serving of fruit. In order to make things a little bit easier so that we could get all of our fruit and vegetable servings, my boyfriend and I invested a very small amount of money into purchasing a juicer. The juicer has been a godsend in terms of making eating healthier both easy and fun.

For ideas on juicing recipes, simply look some up online or come up with your own. My personal favorite includes a juice recipe of four to five organic carrots, a small serving of fresh ginger, kale leaves and three apples. In this one juice, I am already getting over half of my daily intake of fruits and veggies, and it didn’t cost me that much or take that much time to do! For many people, juicing makes eating their vegetables and fruits more palatable. However, for some of us, we prefer to eat our fruits and veggies raw. For example, veggies and fruits make great snacks for in between meals- plus they are super healthy! Some examples include things such as grape tomatoes, baby carrots, blueberries, a few apple slices or even a few cuts of celery. Even something as small as an orange makes a great snack that is both incredibly filling as well as nutritious.

One of the benefits to eating fruits and vegetable is that they fill you up. Because these foods are nutrient rich and often dense in fiber, you often feel full after just a little snack. As we all know, fiber is great for digestion as well as improving your overall weight. If you are looking to improve your diet or if you are trying to lose weight in a healthy way, try to make sure that the ratio of raw fruits and vegetables is higher than the ratio of processed foods, starches and grains that you consume. Combine this with sufficient sleep and a little exercise, and you’ll be on your way to a more healthful you.

Aloe Vera – The Secret of the Ancients

Did you know that Aloe Vera is Superfood?

Aloe Vera Plant in ThailandHonestly I didn’t even know that Aloe Vera is eadable! But then there is this: Dating all the way back to ancient Egypt, Aloe Vera has long been regarded as a plant with deeply healing properties. Now, thousands of years later, this cactus-like member of the lily family is receiving the medicinal validation from the scientific community that natural healers and laypersons have known and relied upon for centuries. Although over 300 species of Aloe exist, it is Aloe Barbadensis that is touted as being the most nutritionally and medicinally potent variety.

Superfood

While most people are aware of Aloe’s cosmetic benefits, it’s highly nutritive qualities might come as a surprise to many. Aloe Vera contains 20 of the 22 essential amino acids (the building blocks of protein), 8 of the 13 known vitamins (including C and E), is high in antioxidants, enzymes and minerals. It is especially high in calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium.

Digestive Aid

Aloe Vera has a mild laxative effect on the bowels. It is known to relieve heartburn, indigestion, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, peptic ulcers and stomach inflammations. It has a cooling and soothing effect on the digestive system.

Blood Regulator

Aloe has been shown to decrease cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipids and nonesterifed fatty acid levels in the blood. This is significant for prevention of and recovery from heart disease. It also has a positive effect on blood coagulation, which ties into its history in wound healing.

Wound Repair and Immunity Booster

Aloe is a cell regenerator that reduces the healing time of both external and internal wounds, inhibits scarring, and has analgesic and antiseptic effects. It is well known for its ability to heal burns, but it has also been shown recently to alleviate the symptoms of arthritis, not only when applied externally, but also when ingested on a regular basis. Its antimicrobial and antiviral properties also make it an effective immune system enhancer of both the skin and the internal system.

Skin and Hair

The cosmetic benefits of Aloe Vera are familiar to most consumers. The reason that Aloe is such a superior moisturizer is because of its ability to penetrate the skin. This also makes it a superb agent for assisting other bioactive ingredients in any cosmetic with which it is mixed to reach deeper tissues. It also reduces the effects of aging on the skin by promoting collagen and elastin synthesis, thus diminishing and preventing fine lines and wrinkles. These beautifying effects are experienced even when taken internally.

How to Use Aloe in Your Daily Life

The best source of Aloe is the fresh raw leaf. The plant is easy to grow and readily available at most nurseries and in the home gardening section of numerous local health food stores. Just slice open a mature leaf, remove the translucent pulp inside it, and blend it with water (1 part leaf to 3 parts water for gel, and use 5-6 parts water for juice).

Refrigerate the remainder and be sure to consume it within 3 days of having blended the mixture. It is usually a good idea to just slice off a few inches of the harvested leaf at a time and to refrigerate the rest for use as needed. This will prevent waste and spoiling of your Aloe juice or gel.

Add the Aloe juice to your favorite summer cool drinks, like lemonade or fresh squeezed citrus juices to counterbalance the somewhat bitter taste of the fresh leaf, if you are unable to drink it straight.

For those of us without access to a garden, you can buy the aloe juice or gel from your health food store. Look for a minimum of 98% Aloe, and natural preservatives like citric acid. Although it is not as nutritionally potent as the homemade potion concocted from the fresh leaf, this bottled variety tends to be more palatable and still has many of the nutritional and cosmetic benefits of the plant.

Try adding aloe to your favorite shampoo or shower gel. You might even let go of your conditioner once you’ve tried this a few times. Aloe is also a great leave in conditioner for both straight and curly styles that gives both hold and body to hair without stiffening it the way synthetic gels and mousses do. Make sure to mix just enough, in a separate bottle, for one or two uses, if using the fresh leaf gel, because it does require a preservative once mixed with oil and left to stand for a few days.

Aloe is also great to use on your face and body under your daily moisturizer, or to mix with both face and body masks.

Aloe is readily available and easy to use. Its medicinal, nutritional and cosmetic power has stood the test of time. Its cornucopia of uses makes it easy to understand why Aloe Vera was the elixir of the Ancients.

6 Superfoods to Add to Your Daily Diet

A List of six beneficial Superfoods

Blueberries are Antioxidant Rch SuperfoodsFresh organic foods have health benefits but Superfoods are particularly healthy because the nutritive content is greater, more complex and extraordinary in some way. Nature has given us an incredible bounty but so many people have little regard for these remarkable foods. Superfoods are very easy to add to your diet and you’ll be doing your health a huge favor by making an effort to eat more healthy foods. Not only your body will benefit from superfoods but also your mind.

  • Superfoods

A good mixture of supergreens includes chlorella, spirulina, wheat grass, wheat sprouts and other green concentrates. Besides containing vitamins and minerals in their natural food state, These greens are also packed with antioxidants, enzymes and co-enzymes, complete balanced protein with all the essential amino acids, trace elements and chlorophyll. In addition they help the body maintain a more alkaline state. The benefits of supergreens as a superfoods are numerous. They help to cleanse the blood of toxins we ingest from daily living and even help to detox heavy metals. They support the liver-cleansing function and play a role in controlling blood sugar levels.

  • Goji Berries

Goji berries are a recent superfood discovery. They are round and red, rather sweet tasting. Grown in China, Tibet and Mongolia, goji berries were traditionally used to boost energy and stimulate Qi (energy flow). There are a range of health benefit claims including anti-ageing and this has made them very popular. The berries do seem to enhance the immune system, improve eye health, protect the liver, boost sperm production and open up the kidney channels. They contain complex phyto-nutrients and bioflavonoids including betaine (brain and liver support), physalin, beta-sitoserol (prostate health), cyperone (benefits heart and blood pressure), solavetivone (anti-fungal, anti-bacterial properties) and others chemicals.

  • Oats

Oats have a high fibre content, half soluble and half insoluble. The soluble fibre portion contains a component called beta-glucans which has some blood cholesterol-lowering effects. The whole-oat variety, either rolled oats or grains, is a very good source of tocotrienols (vitamin E family). Try adding oats to your fruit at breakfast because it slows down the blood sugar level spike. Dietary fibre has shown to lower the incidence of cancer, possibly because it contains lignan. The insoluble fibre is crucial for promoting bowel action and thereby relieving constipation problems. Oats also contain essential fatty acids, a good profile of amino acids and a range of vitamins and minerals including zinc, selenium, iron, magnesium and manganese.

  • Garlic

Garlic is another fantastic superfood to use on a daily basis if possible. You can use it fresh in your food or in capsule form. Garlic’s chief medicinal benefits are its blood pressure-lowering, lipid-reducing and atherosclerotic prevention properties. Garlic has also been shown to reduce the coaguability of blood by reducing platelet aggregation. It is also well-known as a natural anti-biotic. See here for more details on the health benefits of garlic.

  • Blueberries

Blueberries are real little health powerhouses full of antioxidants and other health-promoting substances which support eye, heart and urinary tract health in particular. Blueberries have anti-ageing properties; they decrease free radicals that can damage organs and have important health effects on the brain. These positive effects may be due to its high anthocyanin and proanthocyanidin content. Add them to your oats for breakfast or put them in a smoothie.

  • Cruciferous Vegetables

These include broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, bok choy and cauliflower. If you can eat three or more servings of these vegetables per week studies indicate that you could reduce prostate cancer risk almost by half, and in women the risk of breast cancer is significantly reduced. Other cancers may be prevented too. Cruciferous vegetables also contain compounds that help the liver to detox.

There are other superfoods such as cold-water fish with its high omega-3 fatty acid content; most healthy seeds such as pumpkin, sunflower and sesame seeds; flax seeds with their particular combination of fatty acids. Plainly put, superfoods are by far the best health foods to eat.

David Wolfe on How to Get Started on Superfoods

Lenette Nakauchi Interviews David Wolfe

Lenette: How do you see this book impacting the planet, the countries that it’s going to be first available to?

David: I think it’s going to have a huge impact for Elements of Life, personally. Everybody is on the same page, in my opinion, especially in the western world, North America, Canada, the U.S. about where the future of nutrition is. What everyone is arriving at is that people want more of their nutrition from food, meaning their vitamins and minerals and protein, antioxidants, etc. They want it easier. They want it to be as easy as possible. Superfoods answer that question. It solves that completely. As soon as people get clicked on to it, they realize, “Whoa. This solves a bunch of problems,” then it’s like an avalanche. That’s what I’ve been working on with Random House, who’s going to be helping me distribute this book; developing a strategy where we can kind of go out there and inform people like, “Hey, this is solving a big problem for everybody.” If you don’t have to depend on vitamin and mineral supplements and be worried about getting enough in our food, you eat superfoods and that’s covered completely. You don’t have to worry about it anymore. And it really is. That’s really the truth.

Lenette: Back to the superfoods, how do you suggest people new to superfoods get started?

David: I think it’s best to use a form of food that we’ve all been aware of, which is the superfoods smoothie, or the super protein shake or the Slim-Fast ‘throw it in a blender’ kind of idea. That’s the easiest way I’ve found for most people to tap into this. We’ve all had some experience with that. All we did is we just took the junk protein, the whey protein, egg white protein, whatever that was, just get rid of that and throw superfoods in instead. We have a blender, we have some spring water, we have our favorite fruits, let’s say right now it’s berries, frozen blueberries or whatever kind of fruit you like. You throw in your superfoods in there. I’m a beekeeper so I have honey at my house, and we throw in honey. You blend that up and you go running out the door and it’s like it’s a whole new reality. Actually what that does to people, doing a superfoods smoothie every morning instead of their traditional protein shake, it changes their whole reality around. Suddenly all their neurotransmitters start firing properly. They’re actually getting real protein for the first time in their life. They’re getting tryptophan for the first time in their life. They’re actually getting a good quality and spectrum of real minerals that are 100% bioavailable. That’s never happened in our lives. We grew up on like Froot Loops so when we actually get real nutrition, especially when it’s liquified like that, it has the fastest effect on people’s health of anything I’ve ever seen. That’s why I’m such a fan of superfoods. That’s why I’m putting my whole thing behind that. I’ve seen that it works in sorting out people’s neurochemistry better than anything else.

Lenette: Some people say, “How do I know what’s going to work for me if I start taking a bunch of these things at once?” But you’re saying, “Just go for the gold. Just try it all out.” [David laughing] Put it in a smoothie and you’ll feel better.

David: I remember one time I was hanging around with Shazzy. She’s very popular in the U.K. as a superfoodist; she and I wrote “Naked Chocolate” together. I remember we were having this hilarious moment together where we made up this superfood smoothie, and this was like six years ago. That was a long time ago, before it was like…I was kind of in my own reality with it, but I didn’t realize that people weren’t using this stuff. I made up this superfood smoothie; it must have had 50 ingredients in it. [both laughing] I’m tapping my foot, I’m drinking this drink, and I said, “Could you imagine if we just fed this to somebody on the street? It would probably knock them right out.” And BOOM, there was Shazzy knocked right out on her back.

Lenette: No way.

David: She literally drank half a cup of it and had to lay down. It just laid her right down. The reason why, it was just too much. I just kind of threw her right into the middle of the Super Bowl and it was too much. You’ve got to start out simple. Take Spirulina. Try that.

Lenette: Was that like a detox reaction she was having? Or just overstimulation from all these minerals and things?

David: It was probably both because when you put that level of nutrition…it was like herbs…I remember putting Cat’s Claw powder in there and Camu Camu berry. I’m not kidding, there were probably 50 ingredients in there. When you get to that level of concentration, you have to work up to it, just like anything else. You don’t just suddenly switch from Cheetos and Burger King over to 50 different things in a superfood smoothie. Even as a raw foodist, you go slowly. Everything’s very slow. It’s better that way. You try an experiment. You try bee pollen. You try Goji berries. You just eat it or you throw one ingredient in your drink and gradually you complexify it as you build that muscle. Basically what we’re doing is we’re building up a different muscle, a new digestive muscle. Most of our lives we spend a huge amount of digestive energy digesting nothing. There’s nothing in there. Now we can flip the equation around where we spend hardly any amount of digestive energy and we get a huge amount of nutrients. We’ve got to adapt to that. It doesn’t just happen overnight. You readapt your body to new, higher quality, higher octave types of foods and your body will take its little time. Over a few months it will gradually come along for the ride and that’s more reasonable. This step-by-step approach is much healthier.

Lenette: Can any of the superfoods in the upcoming book cause a detox reaction when you first start using them? And how important are superfoods in a detox program?

David: That’s a very good question. Generally the way I answer that question is to say, “What is a detoxification?” A detoxification occurs when the energy content of what’s coming into the body is at a higher level than where the body’s natural homeostasis is, or residual homeostasis. When you start taking superfoods that are high energy into a body that was eating, say, Burger King, there’s an energetic and vibrational discrepancy. Eventually what happens is one of those higher frequencies is going to entrain the lower frequency vibrations. It’s going to bring the lower energy up and drive it out. And that is going to occur in a lot of people just from eating any of the superfoods because the power of these foods is so high. If you’re a little bit more sophisticated with your approach and you’ve done cleansing and juice fasting and done herbal cleansing and that kind of thing, then you start targeting specific superfoods, like Chlorella, that get heavy metals out. Then you can start looking at Camu Camu berry for its medicinal content and medicinal capability of breaking down neurological blockages. For example, cataracts in the eye, glaucoma, foggy thinking, that kind of stuff. Then you could start to dial in a little bit deeper. Bee pollen, for example is a tremendous…it drives out all the gunk in our nervous system due to the acetylcholine that’s present in bee pollen and in royal jelly. What does that do? We’ve all had genetically modified soy lecithin that somehow snuck itself into our body and that just gums up our brain. You need acetylcholine from bee pollen and royal jelly to help drive that out. It’s called chelation replacement. Kelp is another one. Kelp can detoxify the thyroid. That’s another great superfood, one of the superfoods of the sea.

Lenette: Where are you telling people is the best place to get these superfoods? There are low quality superfoods out there and there are the best ever superfoods out there. How did you address that in the book?

David: What I did was, I went through, and there was a whole section on each superfood about what to look for. It’s really good. It’s designed for anybody to suddenly have the skill to say, “Here’s what I’m looking for. I’ve got to make sure I have cacao nibs that don’t have little white splotches on them. If I buy cacao with the skin on, it shouldn’t have any black mold on the outside.” Just little things like that. With each superfood, you become an expert on what to buy and how to determine what’s high quality and what’s low quality.

Lenette: That’s great, I’m really glad you put that in there. I’m curious to read that myself.
