Cruciferous vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, and cauliflower also help prevent or at least hinder the development of cancer cells. they contain high amounts of antioxidants. Their major component is sulforaphane, which is known to prevents cancer. On the other hand, spinach is also considered a superfood since it is composed of lutein. Lutein can prevent blindness as well as muscular degeneration.

In terms of protein, wild salmon and non fat turkey meat from organic farming, are both considered to be superfoods as well. Wild salmon and other fatty fish, contain lots of omega-3 fatty acids which prevent blood clotting. Salmon also can help minimize the risk of heart disease and the occurrence of a stroke. Since our body cannot make its own omega-3 fatty acids, it is imperative to find alternative means to get omega-3 fatty acids into our bodies. Turkey also contains selenium, which helps the thyroids, boosts the immune system, and decreases the chance of cancer ever developing. Turkey is low in calories and fat, which qualifies it as one of the best sources of animal protein.

Minerals are Essential to Building Maximum Health

Minerals are the foundational building blocks of all forms of matter and life

Did you know that most of America’s agricultural land was documented to be depleted of the majority of essential minerals and nutrients as early as the 1930’s? Senate document no. 264 of the 74th congress, second session, 1936, states:

“…Commercially grown food today has almost no nutritional value. The fruits, vegetables, and grains we eat today are starving us to death; no man of today can eat enough fruits and vegetables to supply his body with the minerals he requires to stay healthy.”

Various mineralsDiscover the role that minerals and mineral-rich superfoods play in building high levels of physical health! Partially due to the rapid rise in health complaints in America traceable directly to mineral deficiencies, the role of minerals, trace minerals and M-state elements in maintaining health is now a widely studied science. But why are minerals so important to physical health?

The Building Blocks of DNA and RNA

The Periodic Table of 117 Elements form the basic building blocks of Nature. They are the physical foundations of both basic and complex forms of matter. Our DNA and RNA are built solely of just a few of these elements – phosphate, carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen.

Varying combinations of just four of the five elements – carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen and oxygen, are used to construct the amino acid chains that form our DNA and RNA. Phosphate, in combination with a sugar made up of these same four elements, form the structural spiral that holds the various chains of amino acids together. Amino acids form the basis of proteins which in turn build a cell.

An interesting side note is, that a single cell (which is less than a millimeter long) contains two meters of DNA! http://www.chm.bris.ac.uk/motm/dna/dna.htm

Proteins, chromosomes, genes, cells, tissues, organs, glands and bone are further developments of the DNA. They are built by forming more complex structures using additional elements of the Periodic Chart.

What does this mean? Our body is a highly developed combination of the Period Table of Elements. If our body were to be in short supply of one or more of these elements, particularly the 5 basic building blocks of the DNA, isn’t it likely that a few basic body functions could begin to deteriorate?

Minerals

There are 117 known elements related to the Periodic Table, of which 94 are commonly found on earth. Minerals are typically either pure forms, or combinations of, the 94 common elements. There are over 4,000 minerals known to exist, with more being discovered all the time.

Minerals are recognized as essential to the construction and performance of thousands of chemical, hormonal and enzymatic processes in the body. Silica, the most essential macro mineral, for example, is required for all connective tissue development. Silica is also required to make other minerals more bio-available.

Without a sufficient supply of minerals, the body is limited in its ability to manufacture these essential body builders and regulators. To not supply the body with an adequate stock of bio-available minerals is like asking a mason to build a brick wall without providing the bricks. Bring the bricks on site and the building of the wall can begin. Stock the body with an adequate supply of minerals, then thousands of biological processes can move forward with ease and efficiency. The body will simply clean house and heal itself.

Organic Superfood

“Superfood” is a term coined to define foods rich in phytonutrients. Phytonutrients are certain organic constituents of plants. Nutritionists agree that these phytonutrients have health-promoting benefits. Fruits and vegetables, along with nuts, certain teas like green tea, grains, and legumes are rich sources of phytonutrients. Phytonutrients consist of carotenoids, phytosterols, isoflavones (including genistein and daidzen), coumarins, indoles, lignans, flavonoids and organosulfurs. Phytonutrients are commonly associated with the color of foods. There is a variety of colors in every day foods that we eat. Such colors like vibrant green, bright juicy red, white, tempting yellow-orange and blue-purple not only add color to our plate, but add a variety of nutrients as well. Because of this dieticians recommend the rainbow diet-a variety of colored foods every day.Evidence that eating a variety of fruits and vegetables protects human health is accumulating from large population studies, human feeding studies, and cell culture studies. As research expands, more conclusive results are awaited. “For now”, the USDA Agriculture Research Center states, “it appears that an effective strategy for reducing risk of cancer and heart disease is to increase consumption of phytonutrient-rich foods including fruits, vegetables, grains and teas.”Foods rich in phytonutrients are:

  • All the brightly colored foods such as tomatoes, squashes, carrots-any food which is yellow and orange, green or red.
  • Fruits which include citrus fruits and berries
  • Flaxseeds
  • Whole grains and legumes
  • Garlic and leeks
  • Green teas
  • Members of the cabbage family known as cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli or romaine lettuce
  • Dark leafy greens such as spinach
  • Soybeans

The National Cancer Institute recommends eating at least 5 – 9 servings of fruits and vegetables per day. On average, Americans consume 3.3 servings of vegetables a day. Dark green vegetables and deep yellow vegetables each represent only 0.2 daily servings. About 48% of Americans consume less than one serving of fruit a day. Fruits and vegetables retain more nutrients when they are organic. The word “organic” signifies that these foods are totally naturally. No pesticides, or artificial fertilizers are used to grow organic foods. There is no genetic modification. Foods claiming to be organic must be free of artificial food additives, and are often processed with fewer artificial methods, materials and conditions. Organic food production is legally regulated.

Organic Superfoods
Organic Superfoods contain a combination of superfoods as natural, organic ingredients in a synergistic ratio. You get a good dose of phytonutrients in one single serving! It is important to read the label carefully to make sure you are buying a product made with organic ingredients as these have the highest nutritive value and are more easily digested by the body. Organic superfoods are not meant to be a replacement for food. But not all of us can consistently eat the required fruit and vegetables we need each day. Superfoods can augment your daily diet to make sure you are getting phytonutrient power for optimum health protection.
