What is Spirulina

Spirulina is the most powerful known blue-green algae. Spirulina is a simple, one celled form of an algae thriving in warm, alkaline freshwater bodies. The name "Spirulina" itself comes from the Latin word for "helix" that stands for spiral; describing the physical configuration of the organism when it forms swirling, microscopic strands. Spirulina powder is about to become the number one superfood across the globe. Spirulina has been developed as the "Food of the Future" because of its amazing ability to synthesize high quality concentrated food more efficiently than other blue green algae. Most notably, Spirulina consists of about 70% complete protein and it also contains all essential amino acids in an almost perfect balance. Beef for example only contains about 22% of protein. It contains phytochemicals like phycocyanin, chlorophyll and carotenoids. But we're not done yet; Spirulina is also a quality source of potassium and it contains large measures of iron, phosphorus, calcium, chromium, copper, magnesium, manganese, selenium, sodium and zinc! The protein in Spirulina is unlike other forms of protein as the protein contained is a gigantic 85-95% viable parts, which means its one of the two largest obtainable forms of protein for the body, in existence and only dried egg supplements contain more usable protein than spirulina powder.
